Nat's POV
I regain consciousness just to find that my wrists have been tied together. Everything is just as dark with my eyes open as when they are closed. The chair I am sitting in is wooden and doesn't have any padding anywhere. I must've been sitting here for a while because I'm sore from the chair.
I'm trying to see where I am when there is a loud clang! from my left. My head turns too fast and pain shoots up my neck. "You've woken up I presume," comes a deep voice. He must've flicked a switch because a dim light floods the entire room. Even the yellowy light is too bright; my eyes shut of their own accord.
I swallow just to find that my throat is dry and sore. "Can you spare a drink for your prisoner?" I manage to croak out.
He chuckles and says, "I think I can arrange that. But only on the condition that you will truthfully answer all of Dev's questions afterward."
"Fine, just hurry up."
After the man leaves, I continue to survey my surroundings. The room completely empty. So they must have taken my possessions and put them elsewhere. I'd guess that it is to keep me from running. My eyes shoot to the door where I see three deadbolts along with the lock on the doorknob. Wow, they must have hired a special locksmith to create the deadbolts; I've never seen any like it. And I've seen a lot of locks.
The man returns with a bottle of water in his hand which he holds out to me. I look down at my hands that are not only tied together, but also tied to the chair. "Ummm, a little help?" I say cocking an eyebrow at him. He sighs, opens the bottle, and puts it up to my mouth to help me drink it. "You know, this would be really romantic except that you kidnaped me and I don't even know your name."
"This isn't supposed to be some pleasure cruise, sweetheart," he says sarcastically. Two can play that game.
"Could've fooled me, you gave me a bottle of water and actually helped me drink from it. The last time a gang like yours captured me I had to lap up the water like a dog."
"Well would you rather that? I think that I could arrange something," the man said, the corners of his mouth flicking up.
"By the way, you don't happen to have a name, do you?" I asked trying to get as much information as I could.
"Xavier."
We fell into a silence, and I could only imagine that we were waiting for some "Dev"guy. If he was anything like the last all-guy gang leader, he won't believe that I can fight better than him. I have certainly been kidnapped a few times a few times.
Sorry, I do believe that I didn't introduce myself. I'm Nat, short for Natalie, and I'm the leader of a gang. I am the only girl in the gang, and when I first joined, everyone laughed. So I asked to fight the leader who turned out to be a man named Logan; I killed him using only my bare hands. Ever since then I've been respected by my own gang, and captured by others because they want to know all the details about what went down between me and the previous (now dead) gang leader. It wouldn't be a big deal that there was a girl gang leader, but there is a lot of trouble when the gang leader is killed by someone that goes on to lead the gang.
Xavier steps out to answer his phone, and when he returns he looks at me with sympathy. "Dev is ready for you. Good luck with him, you will need it. He doesn't believe that you killed Logan by yourself."
"Thanks, but I don't need the luck; and no one believes that I killed Logan by myself. Anyway, what do you believe?" I asked with a smirk.
Xavier scratches the back of his neck and sighs, "I don't know what to believe. You haven't broken out of those chains yet, so I'm doubtful. On the other hand, you've escaped all the other gangs and killed their leaders just to appoint a new one that will respect you."
And after I break a few people's faces I know who will be the leader. Xavier may be a little too nice, but he will "know to respect" me by the time I'm done here.
I'm lead into a room with my hands chained together. There is an empty chair that I'm guessing is for me. On the other side of a table, there is a dest chair with someone sitting inside. I'm forced into the room, and the door is shut. I wait to hear a lock click, but there isn't one. Before the man that I'm guessing is Dev can turn around, I cross my arms and make the limp circle of chain drape around Dev's neck.
I leave no time for Dev to react before forcefully I'm crossing my arms choking Dev. He hadn't turned around, so I have no idea what the man looks like. In fact, for all I know I could be choking a man from my own gang.
Soon I feel Dev go limp, and I unwrap my arms. Turning the chair around, I see the face of the man that Xavier called Dev. He may look stupid, but no gang leader would keep the keys to unlock a wanted prisoner with him when he plans on being in the room alone with her. With a few forceful punches, I kill Dev.
I bust through the door expecting a load of men waiting for me, guns drawn. Instead, I'm met with just Xavior. "What the heck? What are you doing? Dev's gonna kill you!" Xavier says when he sees me.
"Oh, well. It is too late now. On another note, how would you like to be the new gang leader?" I ask nonchalantly.
Xavier's jaw drops, and I smirk at him. "I'd be honored," comes his serious response.
"Well then, everyone, gather 'round!" I yell. Heads turn to look at me. "Xavier is your new gang leader. If you have a problem with that, take it up with me, but let me say, you will be dead before you can say a single word."
Everyone gaped open-mouthed at the two of us. "What are you looking at? Get back to work!" Xavier barks.
"A little help here? I need to be untied." I snap Xavier back into reality.
"Oh, right."
After getting me all cleaned up, Xavier and his gang send me off into the night. Once back home, my gang greets me with surprised looks. "Who cleaned you up? We thought you were captured!" Chance exclaims. Then he walks over and gives me a peck on the lips. Chance and I have been dating a few weeks after I took over the gang because he was the only one to believe that I killed Logan right after the fact.
"Boy do I have a story for you. But before that, I need to teach all of you how to get out of a choke-chain hold."
"Is that what you used this time?" Chance asks.
"Yup, and if it is ever tried on any of you, I need you to be able to get out of it."
And so the night ended: with Xavier getting the feel for his new gang and me teaching the boys how to get out of a choke-chain hold.
