Hi all!

Before you begin reading, please note that I am still quite a novice when it comes to writing. Any constructive criticism is welcome, I would love a few tips to help improve my work!

I apologize in advance for any spelling errors I might have missed.

Enjoy!

She bounded through the forest, narrowly dodging the trees and kicking up nuggets of dirt and moss behind her. Her short black fur flickered in the rush of wind, and her bright, blue hair rippled wildly.

"Good morning, Mister Owl!", she chirped merrily as she sped past an old oak tree. The dappled owl craned his head in her direction and chuckled to himself, "She's up early again, I see."

The crux made a sharp turn and clawed her way up a towering fern, stopping to stick her head in a hollowed out hole in the bark. She kept herself stable by wrapping her long, snow leopard-like tail around the trunk.

"Good morning, Mister and Misses Fernleaf!", Nash exclaimed.

The two frightened chipmunks frantically scurried around in their burrow before realising the unexpected presence was a friendly one.

"Nasheera, you scared us!" Remarked Mrs. Fernleaf, her paws clutched to her chest.

"Learn to keep your excitement contained when paying us a visit next time.", grumbled Mr. Fernleaf.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you." The crux dropped her head and guiltily flattened her sicle-tipped ears.

"It's alright.", sighed Mr. Fernleaf. "Say, Miss Thump was on the look out for you yesterday. She said we ought to tell you to pay her a visit as soon as you can."

"Oh? Exciting, exciting!", the crux's head tilted and her ears perked. "Bye bye, Mister and Missus Fernleaf. Have a nice day!"

With that, the crux slid down the length of the tree, unknowingly leaving deep, green glowing claw trails down either side of the trunk.

Once her dark blue toes touched the ground, she broke into a brisk canter on all fours. Rays of sunlight peering through the treetops made her spotted arms and thighs glow. One blue flash. Two blue flashes. Three flashes, and then a fourth. Four perfect circles placed in a line down each outer arms and thighs.

No ordinary creature of the forest, oh no, not Nasheera.

Nash came to a halt at a round, wooden door at the base of a giant tree. Beaming, she pushed the door open to reveal the inside of the tree, to no surprise of Nash's, it was completely hollow. Inside, it smelled faintly of sage and oranges.

In the centre of the tree was a tiny lounge, the red seats just a bit larger than Nash's head. To the right, a wood-carved spiral staircase trailed up the height of the tree, with the walls crammed with shelves of books, with a few round windows peeking out in between the shelves. At the very top of the tree, a large window stood proudly in the place of what should have been a roof.
