The nothingness I stared into trapped me in an endless darkness. I could feel the warmth of the of sun and the cool breeze on my skin. I could hear the chirping of birds and the laughter of children around me. I could feel the rough, cold stone I sat on, on the edge of the balcony. I was up high, fearless as I dangled my feet in the air. I was able to do all these things, but I can't move the wall blocking my eyes.

I would complain, but I have already spent most of my years doing that. Exhausted of self-hate, I've come to accept what was given to me. I have come to accept the life I have now.

Hearing the footsteps halt behind me, I let my lips form into a thin line. 'I'm fine.' I said in one breath.

'I didn't even say anything yet.' She said in a small voice.

My legs hovered to the other side, jumping down and probably landing in front of her. 'What is it?' I asked knowingly. She didn't come here for an afternoon chat.

'The Alpha wants to see you.' As she said that, the accessory I wore to shield my eyes slipped down an inch lower from the bridge of my nose. I scrunched my nose, making them go back up in a more comfortable position. 'Okay,' is my reply as I walked past her, wanting to pull the curtains away only to find them already drawn open. 'I got it.' Matilda reassures.

I nodded at her in appreciation,  'Thanks, but it's alright. I got it.' I've lived here most of my life. I know every inch of the Alpha's mansion like the alphabet. Going down the stairs is the only thing I have yet to master. But I am getting there. My eyes will not stop me from living normally. The Alpha, on the other hand, sees things differently. He sees me as helpless. . . disabled. He set up guards to paths I usually use: hallways, garden, and even below the staircase. He had voiced out his 'concerns' multiple times. I just let him be. He's the boss after all.

Landing safely on the last step of the stair, a wide smile plastered my face. Safe. I crossed my arms to, whom I hope for, Jacob, the man who is always guarding the third-floor staircase. 'Easy peasy.' I let out a cheeky grin, feeling proud.

'I'm over here.' Hearing his voice from behind me, I quickly shuffled my feet, facing him. I mumble a quiet 'right' as I feel my cheeks burning. 'Well, I'll give it to you. Good job.'

I ignored his praise, my mind focusing on the reason his change of position. 'Why are you over there?'

'Princess, if only you request my assistance, I wouldn't have to run a flight of stairs just to catch you. Standing here gives me a better view of you.'

I cringed at his words. I could only imagine him smirking, looking smug. Clearing my throat, I continue to ascend to the direction of the Alpha's office.

Before I was given the chance to knock at the door, his powerful voice echoed through the double door, 'come in.'

'Alpha Hendricks.' I arched my body into a respectful bow. He gave me a hum in response as I made my way to the familiar leather couch. I took a seat at my usual spot: just beside the left armrest.

'Your prediction is also accurate this time. The two packs of rogues did merge. Just last week, they've already taken over few of the small packs from the neighbouring countries. They're coming for us next and they are growing. They are currently camping at the east, so I sent a couple of spies.' I heard him stand up from his chair, footsteps coming towards me. 'They've somehow gotten their hand on the Beta's gun. See if you can use it.' He took my hand, guiding it to the weapon. As I placed it on my lap, my eyes rolled to the back of my head and I was sent to the hazy future.

As I regain consciousness to the present time, I found myself sitting in a rather uncomfortable position. My head hanging low, neck bent awkwardly, and just a little push is needed and I will probably fall forward. I took a deep breath, calming my disturbed heart.
