"All I Hear is Sirens , In a world So Violent . " ~ Kali Uchis
"Just Do it." Sarah prodded me.
"I don't know, what if they find out?" My voice trembled and a single line of sweat strolled down my face.
"Fera don't be a pussy, they're not even home. Just grab two bottles and go." It was easier said then done, stealing from my parents. Sarah didn't know they had cameras everywhere. Neither did she know the horrors I faced everyday. She dosen't know what happens downstairs. The screams I hear some nights when I try to go to sleep. The grim smile my father gives me the day after, as if nothing ever happened. But, I should have known what I was getting myself into.
Why did I tell Sarah my parents had bottles of Liqour just sitting around ?
That's what I get for trying to show off.
"Fera? Hello?"
I cleared my throat.
"Shit, Ok. Umm, i'll see you tommorrow." After I heard the line click I gave myself a pep talk.
"Ok, Fera, you can do this." I took a deep breath and made my way swiftly to my parents' office. The door was cracked and although this was a new million dollar house, the door creaked.
I opened the refrigerator eyeing the Wine. They couldn't possibly miss two measly bottles of wine.
And here I was, Scared for no reason. I'll show her.
My thoughts were shattered by the Alarm saying the front door opened.
My heart dropped. I heard footsteps getting closer, and voices as clear as day. I quickly looked left and right for a place to hide.
I hid in the cabinent behind the desk, mentally thanking my scrawny 13 year old body. I slowed my breathing and listened Intently.
"Honey, It's time. I really don't know why your stalling this." That was my dad talking.
" I just think we shouldn't Replicate her, I mean for what ? What abilities does she have ?" My mom answered.
I tried my best to understand what they where talking about. But my vocabulary wasn't wide enough.
I just continued to listen.
"She could be a carrier. We need more of those." My dad argued back.
"Cliff, she's thirteen! Your forgetting she's in school, how would she look pregnant?"
"Homeschool. Janet what's gotten into you ? When we first adopted her you were rea-"
ACHOO!
My heart almost burst out of my chest. I startled myself not by sneezing, but by realizing they'd heard me.
"Fera ?" my mom said my name and fear rushed over me.
The cabinent door swung open and I was dragged into the middle of the office.
"Take her downstairs." My dad said hastly.
My mother looked at me with so much sympathy, she grabbed my shoulders pulling me into a hug.
"Fera, I really Loved you." Her eyes watered. And I instanstly became more hurt than scared. She said she loved me. As in past tense. We learned that in elementary, and I was well aware by what she meant.
My father escorted me down the hall. I sheepishly followed, realizing I was about to be the one screaming. No one would hear me. No one would save me.
This is the end.
Fuck Sarah Jennings.
