The doorbell rang. Miss Alice, my adopted mother, was working at the hospital and she would've called if someone was planning to come over. Even though no one ever came over.
Ding! Dong! Ding! Dong!
"Who is it?" I yelled through the door. No one responded.
I slowly opened the door but no one was out there. I stepped out on to the front porch and looked around the sides of the house, but still no sign of anybody. Stupid kids, I thought. As I started walking back inside, there were loud footsteps chasing behind me, and before I could even turn all the way around... SLAM!
It felt like someone punched me in the cheek with broken glass. SLAM! SLAM! Two more eggs smashed me in the face. I opened my tear filled eyes to see two of my old jerk classmates laughing hysterically while I sobbed.
"Nerd!" Danny yelled
"Stupid loser!" James followed. "Just because you decided to home school doesn't mean we won't come visit the freak."
They mocked me for another 60 seconds wiping fake tears from their faces until they finally ran out of my yard and up the road, high fiving each other and laughing like cracked out hyenas. I watched them hop into Ashley's black Mercedes, while picking eggshells and yolk out of my hair.
Ashley was the queen of Ridgetown high. She was also the whole reason I begged Ms. Alice to let me home school. The last day I attended Ridgetown, Ashley purposely spilled red paint on my crotch and told the whole school I started my period. I cried for days and finally Ms. Alice caved. I was always quiet and tried to stay to myself but still it seemed I stayed with a kick me sign on my back. But according to Ashley and her two clones I was a freak, ugly, and weird. Maybe I was.
Ms. Alice always told me I was beautiful, but I owned a mirror. I was pale and slinky, with frizzy brown hair, acne, and big ugly glasses. My best outfit was overalls and an oversized floral shirt you'd see in an old lady's thrift store, because that's where I bought it. Ashley was tan, blonde, perfect and always wore clothes so tight that there wasn't even a reason to where them. I guess I was always a little jealous of her. I always wondered what it would be like to be her.

I made my way back inside the house. I hopped in the shower, combing yolk out of my hair. I had to hide the evidence before Ms. Alice got home. I hate her to worry. I hopped out of the shower, dried my hair, waving the blow dryer around my head fast and frantically hoping it might dry faster. It didn't. I threw my egg covered clothes in the washing machine. Then I popped in my favorite movie, dirty dancing, and propped my feet up and tried to act completely natural. Ms. Alice was good at sensing when I was upset. I glanced at the clock, and I still had about thirty minutes before she got home.
I was dozing off to sleep on the couch when another Ding!Dong! occurred at the door. Are you kidding me? The nerve those jerks have, I thought fuming with anger.
"Leave me the hell alone, assholes!" I screamed enraged.
"Um, hi! I'm your new neighbor..." said a friendly, confused voice through the door.
"Oh, my gosh. I'm so sorry..." I stammered while flipping the locks, trying to open the door.
There stood a gorgeous girl. She had fire red hair, bright blue eyes, a tan, perfectly sculpted body. She mad Ashley look like a 2 on a scale of one to ten. But what does she want?
"I'm so sorry. I normally don't speak like that. It's just... I had a funny incident earlier" I said trying to play it off.
"I saw, and that was the rudest thing I think I've ever seen. I'm so sorry that happened to you. It really bothered me. I just thought I'd see if you were okay and introduce myself. Hi I'm your new neighbor Angelica."
