The cold seeping in through Avery's sweater pricked at her skin leaving goosebumps, it was late November and another thunderstorm had picked up outside. Hearing a knock on the door, she sighed and heaved herself up from her position on the couch with a laptop on her lap. She padded barefoot across the room to the door and stood on her tip-toes to look through the peep-hole and saw Monica, her older sister.

She threw the door open and welcomed her sister, both with dark brown hair and slightly tanned skin- Golden brown, almost. Avery beamed a grin at her sister as she pulled away, much older than her- crinkles had already formed at the corner of her eyes.

Monica's eyes eyed her sister, her nose crinkled disapproving. "What are you wearing?" she asked as Avery closed the door behind her, leading her into the living room. Compared to her sister, Avery was in a red sweater with a knight logo at the middle, green silk pajama's with pink cats. Monica was in a white dress, laced at neckline, black 3-inch heels strapped at her feet.

They were completely different, Avery always had wondered how they ever got along with each other. Even as children, Monica was in the spotlight, shoved into auditions for singing and beauty contests while Avery was the one who sat in the corner, even during parties, just to read a book. Monica hated books and always went for shopping and make-up, talking all day about a guy in school she started dating, Avery being the one to lock herself in her room, listening to music and only coming out for dinner.

Complete opposites their parents used to say.

"Pajama's, drink?" Avery half-jogged to the kitchen, not so far since she lived in a quite small apartment. Shelves of books covered half a wall in the living room, a TV pressed against the wall with a table under. A living room set with a recliner and a love seat in the middle, both cream color. "I'll have coffee" she paused, "If you even have any though" she added.

Avery took a sharp intake of breathe before calming herself down and informed Monica that she did as she made a cup, making herself a cup of choco. "So.." Avery started, she didn't know how to feel with her sister around- her sister had been in New York for a long time already leaving her and her parents at home, it wasn't long 'till Avery left too to study in London. "How are you?" Monica suddenly asked, her head turning to face Avery as she cautiously walked in- trying to balance both cups in her hand.

Avery felt relieved to have her sister get the mug from her hand, she bit her lip and sat on the recliner, crossing her legs in an Indian sitting position. "I-I'm good.. Yeah, I.." she stuttered, she hadn't been exactly good for the past few days, she was starting to come down with a flu forcing her to do her projects online, but then, that was not something to tell your sister after just arriving to visit you.

"I'm okay, I'm fine- How are you?" Avery answered a little too quickly, Monica looked like she wanted to say something but closed her mouth deciding against it. "I'm good, I need to tell you something though" something sudden ignited in the shadows of Monica's eyes, a giddy aura started coming off her and Avery instantly sat up at her sister sudden shift.

Monica grinned-putting down her mug at the table in front of her- at her sisters movements before stretching her left arm, the diamond ring twinkling under the bright lights. Avery felt her heart skip a beat, gasping as she hastily put her mug down on the table beside her chair before jumping up and tackling her sister in a hug. Monica gasped slightly before laughing and wrapping her arms around her squealing sister.

A strong scent hit Avery, despite wanting to pull away, she stayed and felt tears prick her eyes, the last time she had seen her sister was 5 years ago, when we attended our grandmother's funeral. It tore them both apart, especially Monica since they were very close. Their grandfather had died 2 years later, tearing Avery next- even more since her sister was not there. The last time they saw each other, they were in grief- right then, they saw each other again, they were both happy. She suddenly felt like Elsa and Anna from Frozen, a disney movie she had recently watched with her boyfriend.

That must've been the way Anna felt when she finally got her sister back, when she hugged her.

She pulled herself away and grabbed her sisters left hand and stared at the ring in awe. "It's Gorgeous! Oh My God! Congratulations!" she beamed, throwing herself at the empty seat beside Monica. She suddenly gasped then leaned in, "Who's the guy? Is it that Natividad guy you were telling me about?" Avery whispered as if their parents were around to hear.

Her sister nodded making Avery squeal, "We should celebrate!" she stood up. "Hold on, I'll change my clothes, I'll bring you to a club- one of the famous ones here in London!" she said already jogging to her room.

As she disappeared behind a door, Monica sighed happily. Her sister had grown so much, she reached for the mug and started sipping while bringing out her phone. A club? She considered it a bachelorette party, she started calling and messaging her friends and colleagues where to meet.

She already finished her coffee when Avery came back. Monica turned around and took in her sisters appearance, she put on very colorful jeggings, a white tank top with a skull as colorful as her jeggings, a blazer on top and combat boots on her feet. There was a fedora on her head and her smile beamed, suddenly red, her face seemed so natural. She smiled approvingly and informed her sister about their other companions about to arrive downstairs, she saw an emotion flicker behind Avery's eyes as she told her this but it quickly vanished as she grinned nodding enthusiastically.

"Let's go then!"
