The moonlight shone on what was left of the isle, Atlantis, nestled between what would become known as the Americas and the old world. Atlantis was an enchanted isle, where the streets were paved with amethyst and the windows were made of diamond, in honor of the goddess of wind who protected them from the other nations. But her older sister was jealous, her hatred of her sister would eventually lead to the downfall of their home. The black abyss seemed to be growing as Ryhina encroached, the fallen goddess, the goddess of darkness and despair. Anailakira stood her ground knowing that they were evenly matched. Their mother cried out in despair her daughters were to fight and she would not be able to stop it. Elementra let out a gut wrenching cry, terrifying the birds around her. Ryhina destroyed much of Atlantis before Anailakira finally attacked her sister.
"Ryhina don't destroy our world for the sake of pride! He chose me and I can't change that. The human heart is not for us to tamper with, look at the Greeks, cupid and Aphrodite get mixed in with their lives, and boom, war breaks out in Troy. I will not make him love you for that is not for me to decide," cried out Anailakira.
"You liar! You already tampered with the prince's heart! That time he was in love with Rushi you broke his heart by making her love another!" cried out Ryhina.
"I never did that, the fates did! She was destined to marry the butcher Roltan!" she answered dodging her sister's attack
"The fates do not decide our destinies, we do! Just as I shall be the queen of the gods, all gods!" raged Ryhina.
"Your ambition will be your downfall," whispered Anailakira. "And that shall be your Achilles heel." With a gust of wind she knocked down Ryhina and aimed to kill her sister when the dark chasm grew and engulfed all the goddesses of Atlantis smothering the island and drowning all of the citizens of Atlantis along with them.

"Anila wake up!" called her mom.
Groaning Anila rolled over landing on the floor. "Ow." Anila sat up and rubbed her head. "Great another day," she grumbled. Standing up Anila went to her closet and grabbed her school uniform and headed for the shower. When she got out her long brown hair was wrapped in a towel as she went back to her room to find her socks.Finding two long white socks she slipped them on and then put on her shoes. Taking down the towel she tied her chocolate brown hair into two twin pony tails, no easy task considering how long her hair was.
"Anila come get your breakfast," called her mom.
Thump, thump, thump, went the stairs as Anila jumped down taking two steps at a time to the kitchen. The smell of vanilla and cinnamon filled the air as her mother made French toast. Piling three slices of the warm toast on her plate drowning them in warm maple syrup she smiled and started in on the morning conversation.
"Mom we're going on our field trip to Ricorty Rock Museum of Minerals today, can I get five bucks to..."
"No," was all her mom said as she finished the last of the French toast.
"But mom..."
"Don't 'but mom' me, we can't afford it right now, you're lucky to even be going on that trip at all," she said, shaking the spatula in front of Anila's nose.
"Yes, mom," she said begrudgingly.
"Now off to school," said her mom.
Grabbing her backpack, she ran out the front door and hurried off to school, and more importantly, to her friends Sara and Jasmine. Sara, Anila, and Jasmine were close friends. Anila had met Sara in first grade and Jasmine just last year. They were practically inseparable. They each liked manga but couldn't decide which book was better; they liked pop music, but Jasmine also liked techno Japanese music; they were like sisters of the spirit.
