Ivy crept around the door. It's brown leaves scattered along the thin stem flat against its surface as if adding and extra layer of protection to the wood. The leaves were slightly raised however the white stone they were made out of was imbedded in the thick mahogany door. each leaf caught the sunlight as the door opened, their delicate green painted surfaces being shined upon one by one. I watched it swing open, sweeping across the floor. In one smooth elegant motion. It slowed as it moved closer to the wall running out of momentum but still clattering against the cold grey stone rather loudly. A tall man stood in the stone archway where the door used to be. He managed to stay in the shadow of the door even though it seemed impossible. His dull chain mail matching in colour with the thinning hair surrounding his worn face. 'The princess has requested your presence' his voice tore through the silence of the room like an arrow through cloth.
I sat upon a simple wooden three legged stool in the middle of the circular room. The open window a blaze with sunlight illuminating the room except for the wall behind me where it cast a long thin shadow across the floor staining it. 'Do you ever knock?' I kept my gaze fixed on the window sill. 'Why should I? you have no authority and need no privacy, now out' he sneered at me. I slowly rose from my chair and walked towards the doorway closing the door behind me.
We walked through the corridors to the great hall. It was a large room with five stained windows along one side and a throne at the end on an elevated piece of flooring. I walked through the room towards the throne I stopped before the steps up to its level . The guard followed close behind me 'kneel' he command. I stayed still facing the princess who was on the chair next to the throne. 'I said kneel!' He hit the backs of my knees with his foot and forced me too the ground pushing my shoulders. The princess smirked 'still not doing as you're told' she leaned back in the chair glass of wine in hand. 'I bet you're wondering why I called you here?' She paused for me to ask questions but I didn't care. 'The prince is getting...lonely and I do not wish to tend to all his...needs as I am pregnant' she continued 'you have spent to much time shut up in that tower and the men are growing restless by themselves' she smiled 'you belong to the crown now you are property and the men will use you how they want'. I started at her shocked unsure of exactly what was happening. The guard slid something cold and metal around my throats and clicked it in place. He then lifted me from the floor and pushed me forward 'walk to the kings room' he sneered 'I'm sure he wants to see you....all of you'
