I enter the coffee shop and look around the familiar setting, automatically smiling as I see my group of friends around a table, waving and calling over to me. I chuckle softly, making my way over to them. The majority of the group were in light coats, as well as me, who was wearing a dark jacket to keep myself warm. It was early January, so there was still a chill in the air.
"Julie! You finally made it! I was about to call off the hangout." My best friend Bridget smiled widely, wrapping an arm around my shoulders. Bridget was barely an inch taller than me, but of course she made a big deal over it. She had long light brown hair and pale skin, kind eyes that always seemed appealing. She was the one who had brought all of us together in this unlikely group of friends. She was social, and enjoyed singing and performing due to that trait.
"Sorry, I got a bit...Busy." In actuality, I was just really tired today and I could barely muster up the energy to pick out decent looking clothes. I shook off her arm gently and went to sit down, in between two more friends, Tabby and Codie. Tabby was a bit shorter than me, but hard dark brown, wavy hair like me, except it was cut short to curl at her ears. She had glasses like me, too, but hers looked cute and were ovals, thin framed. Mine were just little black boxes of glass on my face. She was dating Bridget, and I met her when they first got together. It had been a while since then. She was a bit timid, but could be very kind and sweet.
Codie was the the most beautiful, at least to me, in the group. She had long, flowing blonde hair and bright blue eyes. Her skin was probably even more fair than that of Snow White's. Her physique was extraordinary, especially considering how much she loved food. Her mom was a model so she got her looks straight from perfect genes, but she never let it get to her head. We had only just recently stopped being so hostile to each other over a trivial dispute, and we were pretty chill now.
My eyes gazed around the room, looking for the final member of our group. "Uh, didn't Mae come?" Bridget nodded, gesturing her head to the line trailing in front of the counter. "Yeah, she's ordering another drink."
I looked in her direction smiling a bit. Mae, the shortest of the group, which no one ever failed to take notice of. Her hair was a reddish brown that went past her shoulders. Her eyes were dark, and she was a stoic kind of person. Mae was from Germany, and was fluent in both German and English. She kept to herself more-so than the others, but she was a good person to go to for deep conversations.
I looked back at Bridget, leaning back in my seat with a shrug. "So, why the sudden meet up? You said it was important...Do you have any news?" Earlier that day, I had gotten a text in our group chat that read "MEETING AT 6 PM AT CAFE! IMPORTANT", and we usually didn't question her reason for meetings until we were there.
She grinned, crossing her arms over her chest in satisfaction. Everyone else at the table was smiling. "Why, it's because we have a new member in our group! Addi?" I heard someone clear their throat, and I looked down past Codie to where there was a chair pulled up. It wasn't too close to the table, but she was just near enough to seem to be apart of the atmosphere. Honestly, I wouldn't have noticed her if no one had pointed her out. The girl seated there looked up at me.
My heart stopped for a moment. She was absolutely stunning, her light brown hair straight past her shoulders, her eyes were a beautiful shade of blue-green, seeming to almost shine as they fixated on me. Her eyelashes were long and her lips looked soft and glossed. She began to speak then. "U-Uh, hi I'm... Adeline. Addi for short." Her voice was soft and sweet, and I had to hold back from smiling as she spoke. She continued to stare at me with an eyebrow raised, and I realized I was supposed to respond back. I cringed internally. "Ah! A pleasure to meet you then... Addi. I'm Julie." I stood up once more, stepping past Codie to get to her. I held out my hand and she shook it gently, not having a very firm grip. 'So cute...' I thought to myself. In short, she was a very attractive lady. She looked younger than the rest of us, and was almost the shortest. Of course, besides Mae.
