Don't forget; resist

-Innocent is the memory from our horrendous deeds.

-We patronize ourselves day and night,
-And ask our memories to overlook such recurrent sight.

-We engage ourselves in the cruellest of all torment.
-We're never careful; we believe any lie they invent.
-We dig the fire pit ourselves and expect our memories to circumvent.

-Before us was the dismal silent lake of regret.
-Staring at it helplessly was the best we could get.
-With vengeful intolerance our confused love was met,
-And that gloomy February was indeed a month to forget.

-But by forgetting, we would be recognizing defeat.
-We would be like craven scoundrels who ran away as they sensed the battle's heat.
-We would be like scattered shipwrecks that were once a glorious fleet.
-"Ask for mercy!" repeated the brittle heart with every beat.
-Dear readers, would anything be more shameful than such retreat?

-Victoriously, we stood against the belligerent waves of this tyrannical sea.
-We decimated the very soul of their hypocrisy and set ourselves free.
-We were at last triumphant, yet we could neither predict nor foresee
-Just how awful and hideous the coming days will turn out to be.

-The common fatal disease has already made its way through our oblivious veins,
-And smothered our aspirations with a tight grip of some iron chains.
-Oh! Compared to this ordeal, trivial and insignificant are past wounds and blood stains!

-With such prevalent darkness leaving no chance for hope to be caught,
-Despair is justifiable, but the cowardly solution of forgetfulness is not.

-"Just keep on your great pretence," said the unexpectedly wise ceiling, "as fakery sometimes succeeds."
