"Julia, dad's leaving, come down!" my sister, Hanna, yelled to me from downstairs. I ran down the stairs to say goodbye to my dad, he was leaving to go to Poland for the next year to spend time with my grandma. For the next year it'll just be my sister, my brother, Jacob, and I.
"Please you three, I'd like to come back to my home still in one piece and ALL of my children still living!" My dad joked, hugging us all. After saying our goodbyes, Jacob helped him bring his bags out to the Uber and I went back up to my room to finish getting ready for school.
"Let's go, I'll leave without you Julia." my brother yelled at me from across the hall. I couldn't risk his leaving with out me today, on my last day of middle school.
I quickly finished getting ready and dashed out to the car, the car which he was slowly pulling out of the driveway. Thankfully he stopped when he saw me. Rolling my eyes, I got into the front seat of his car, his car that for some reason always had to have the radio at full blast playing the most irrelevant electronic club music ever.
"Jacob, have you ever considered any good music? Kanye West preferably." I said with a smirk on my face. He just ignored me, which is what my family usually does when I express to them my love for the Kardashian/West family.
"Please just shut up and get out of my car," he said letting out a little laugh while pulling into the school parking lot.
"Gladly! I can't deal with your trash music any longer anyway!" I laughed getting out and walking into school. As I walked in the doors today, I couldn't help but to reminisce on all 3 years I spent here. It has been a whirlwind of emotions, I rotated through so many friend groups, dealt with so much drama, but most importantly, realized my importance and got to know myself so well. Looking around, I finally found my friends in their usual spots, waiting for me so we could walk to class with each other. I wouldn't necessarily consider myself to hang out with the "popular" group, but my friend group is very well respected.
"Julia, why are you literally always late in the morning? We need time to gossip before class, especially on days like today" my best friend, Mayra, said to me.
"Sorry, my dad's left this morning, for some reason I feel like he doesn't trust Jacob, Hanna and I." I giggled. Me and my siblings might not be the most responsible people around. We all belong to the "popular" groups. Hanna is a senior, Jacob is a sophomore, and I'm in 8th grade, so we definitely are a handful for my dad.
My group of 6 finished our little conversation and walked together to our homeroom class for the last time. we already knew what we had ahead of us today, year book signing, graduation rehearsal, and lots of speeches and awards to be given out.
After homeroom, and conversations with all of our teachers, all of the classes walked down to the cafeteria together and sat down so that we could begin awards. My group sat at a table, took out our phones, and socialized while the teachers got everything together.
"Hey, guys. How about we have a sleepover at my house tonight. It's just Jacob, Hanna and I, so it'll be pretty laid back. I can just have Jacob pick everyone up with me after graduation tonight." I said and everyone quickly agreed. Soon after, we were ready to begin awards.
"Okay, so the first award is going to be best dressed girl," my algebra teacher, Mrs. Lancaster said, "and the award goes to Julia Adamski." As she said that, I let out a little giggle and went up to get my award. I won 3 other awards along with that. Best dressed, biggest heart, best laugh, and most likely to be famous. Receiving the awards made me really happy, the fact that I know that I left a mark on this school in general made me very happy.
School went by so quickly, and we were finally done. I went and hugged all my friends goodbye before going to the bus to get home and get ready for tonight's graduation. I get so much anxiety just thinking about it. I was student council president this year, so I have to give a long speech at tonight's ceremony, and my nerves are finally setting in.
