The Power Button

Chapter One

Fleur woke to the sound of her obnoxiously loud alarm clock beeping as she groaned. She smacked the alarm clock and smashed her head into her pillow. After a few seconds Fleur looked up and squinted at the alarm clock. She saw the alarm clock slowly coming into focus as she read the time. The clock read 8:20. Fleur's eyes widened as she scrambled out of bed and ran over to her drawers.

"Oh my goodness I'm gonna be late and this will be the third time this week" panicking she grabbed her apron and her ivy green T-shirt and ran into the bathroom to change.

"Kristie" Fleur yelled as she zipped out of the bathroom and down the stairs.

"What, it's too early to take my vitamins if that's what you're going to ask" snapped Kristie, giving Jasper a croissant.

"No, well yes, but I need you to pack me an extra sandwich I'm gonna miss breakfast" exclaimed Fleur

"Oh, sorry I will go to get more cheese then" Kristie walked into the kitchen and started slicing provolone cheese. Fleur ran downstairs with her ivy green shirt and apron on.

"Fleur has no pants on" snickered Jasper, munching on his croissant.

"You are lucky you are five years old stinker, or.." Fleur trailed off looking at the time and pulling on her pants. The clock read 8:42. I am going to be is so much trouble! Fleur thought running into the kitchen. Fleur ran over to the cabinets and found a small green container marked Potassium vitamins. Fleur opened the container, looking at her palm that had turned red from pushing down the hard plastic writing on the lid. Fleur peered into the container at the glowing opal pills that shimmered in the light. The blue pills had speckles of lime green and streaks of purple and silver. Fleur reached into the container, the small opening squeezing her hand and leaving tiny white marks where they had pressed against her skin. Kristie looked up from where she was slicing provolone cheese and glanced at the shimmering opal pill and shook her head.

"I am not eating that!" Kristie said defiantly looking at Fleur then at Jasper who was playing in the family room. Fleur glared at Kristie for a moment, finally giving in she set her hand on the counter and looked at the redwood floors.

"Kristian Dubois, you will take this pill." Fleur whispered startling Kristie who whipped her head around to face Fleur and snatched the tiny pill from Fleur's hand, popping it into her mouth. Kristie made a sour face as she slowly swallowed the pill, she stuck her tongue out and walked into the family room where Jasper was sitting on the beige carpet playing with his super hero toys

"If you weren't five she would go full super hero on you Jasper" Kristie started making airplane noises and playing with Jasper as he giggled wildly. Kristie then started tickling Jasper as he shrieked in delight, his face turning red from laughing so much.

"Thank you" whispered Fleur. She stuck her tongue out at Kristie, smiling as she snuck out the door without Jasper knowing.

"Your welcome" mouthed Kristie, giggling as she went back to playing with Jasper, but Fleur had already left.

"You are late Miss Dubois" Fleur's manager Ernie groaned. Ernie was Fleur's boss, he had awful posture and was always grumbling about something. Today he was grumbling about his new haircut that had gone awfully wrong. His bangs started halfway down his forehead and slowly went upwards as you looked to the right. Fleur was usually the topic he was grumbling about, but the haircut seemed like a more urgent problem at the moment.

"I know and i'm really sorry I honestly didn't mean to but-"

"No buts Miss Dubois, just try to be on time please."

"Yes, of course" Fleur looked down at the floor as Ernie dramatically sighed.

"Good, can you go take orders now that you're here" he grumbled
