chapter one// the Quidditch World Cup

"Okay, make sure you all stay together!" Mrs. Weasley screamed as she and her family ran through the large crowd. "George slow down!"

"I'm Fred! Honestly, and you call yourself our mother." He shook his head.

"Sorry, Fred dear."

"I am George. Only joking."

Harry laughed to himself in the midst of all the chaos at the Quidditch World Cup. He couldn't believe the Dursley's actually let him go. Of course it did take a lot of convincing and doing a lot of chores.

"Here, put this on." Ginny turned to give him a red and black checkered top hat in honor of Bulgaria, a team playing that night. She turned as red as her hair when he said thanks.

Ron, clueless as ever turned around as asked, "Where's Harry?"

Hermione punched him in the arm earning an 'ow!' . "He's right behind you! Honestly, did you even look?" That punch certainly pulled him out of his stupor.

"Oh! Harry, looks like we're the only ones rooting for Bulgaria." He laughed. Truthfully, Harry didn't know a thing about either teams but Ron claimed Bulgaria was the best.

"Okay, gang, our seats are right there. I'll let Bill, Charlie, and Percy go first. Yep, that stand right there." He ushered them up there.

Someone walking in the platform below hit Mr. Weasley's hand with a cane. "Lucius." He stiffened.

"Weasley."

"Father and I are in the Minister's box. Fudge invited us himself." The annoying bleach blond, Draco Malfoy sneered. "Not surprised he didn't invite your lot." He scanned the Weasleys, but when he got to Harry, the smirk got wiped right off his face. Why?

"Potter?" He asked with a gasp.

Harry looked down at him in disgust. "What, Malfoy? You act as if it's so weird to see me here. They're like a family to me anyways."

"Because yours didn't want you?"

Hermione had a glint of rage shining in her eyes. She wanted to slap Malfoy for being rude to her best friend. "DON'T MAKE ME PUNCH YOU AGAIN MALFOY." She bent down over the railing, her fists clenched into two tight balls.

"Gee, Granger, is it that time of month?" He asked, suddenly sparking the attention of the twins and Ron. After that little comment, everyone was yelling at each other.

Lucius Malfoy pulled his son back. "I apologize for what my son said. We best get going, don't want to keep the Minister waiting." There was nothing sincere about his tone. It held nothing except apathy and abhorrence.

"Don't worry about it, Ron. At least you guys bought the tickets to even be here.

Ron turned to Harry, a his lips turning down into a frown.. "Dad got the tickets from the Ministry."

"Well that doesn't matter. At least you're here." He answered as he squeezed into the stand with the nine Weasleys and Hermione. There were so many different people at the game and it excited him. He loved diversity. There were Kenyan wizards in the stand nearest them, Americans on their right, and some Italians rooting for the Irish in front of them.
