Chapter 5: Arswon the Romantic

Cassidy awoke from her wildly vivid dream, covered in cold sweat. She sat bolt upright in her bed, disbelief clear on her face and questions spiraling around her head. Why would Brian do anything like that? And HOW?! He had changed so much, that he seemed less like Brian, and more like Fernando.

He must have some ounce of good left in him if he was willing to tell her where the Triangles were, even if it was just to challenge himself, right? Or was that just her, trying to see the best of him, as it seemed like she was doing all the time now.

She crawled out of bed, her head pounding as she tried to contemplate her dream. In fact, it wasn't just her head that hurt, it was her whole body. On a sudden hunch, she checked the bed sheets, and sure enough there was a small red spot, still slightly wet.

Cassidy grinned wickedly, "Arswon!" she said in his head.

"What? Nothing happened right?" he asked.

"No, nothing happened. I just decided that now would be a good time to make good on my promise o teaching you,"

"And you decided this just now?"

"Yup. Ready?"

"Wait-"

Cassidy concentrated on the sensation of pain given off by her cramps and smiled when she heard Arswon's mental gasp of pain.

To Arswon, the pain was nothing that he had ever experienced. It was as if someone was squeezing his organs, before disemboweling him with a rusty knife. He felt sickened, and had to rush off to vomit, so much was the pain. He head ached and he felt his temperature go up.

"HOW IS THIS TEACHING ME ANYTHING?!" Arswon yelled at Cassidy.

Cassidy's grin grew smug, "Because, that's what a woman goes through every month. Now try being cordial and concentrating on life WHILE feeling like that,"

"No way; that's ALL this is?! Is your PERIOD?!"

"Yup! Surprised?"

"Why?! Why make me go through this?!"

"Because you asked me to teach you how a girl thinks, so I will. Guys are so absorbed by their own pains that they don't seem to even try to understand what it is a female goes through,"

"Okay, okay; I get it. Is there anything else to teach me or are you just content to leave me in pain?"

Cassidy laughed, "Oh there's a LOT more to teach you before you can even begin to comprehend how a girl thinks. And then in order for me to teach you, I have to show you some memories, since there's no way of explaining some things,"

"Fine," Arswon disconnected, and Cassidy flopped back onto her bed, finally feeling like she had gained some control over her situation.

While she was at Arswon's fort time passed by quicker than Cassidy could ever have imagined. With the help of Arswon, her skill with magic accelerated, to the point where she and Arswon now engaged in mock battles using only magic, with Cassidy coming in on top more and more often. Once she had learned the basics, like keeping the vase in the air, it had become easy. Magic was like a muscle; you had to train it and make it stronger to use it better.

Meanwhile, she showed Arswon memories of social situations and taught him how a girl reacted to them.

One such situation was a rumor that had gone around about Cassidy, saying that she had stolen someone's boyfriend.

Cassidy showed Arswon the memory of how she had walked up to the girl whose boyfriend Cassidy had supposedly stolen, and given her a dose of reality.
