I, Yui, Failed to Remain Inconspicuous...[HIATUS]

Chapter 1

Groaning, Yui held the back of her head. She had been walking back to her cottage after collecting some herbs for dinner when she had suddenly been knocked over by a small blur.

Itte tte tte...What was that?

When she looked down all she could make out with her blurry vision was...Blond hair? Just when she was able to recognize the former blur as a child, she felt the child bury her head deeper into her abdomen, rubbing into it not unlike the way a cat does.

"Yui! Yui! Yui!" Was the ecstatic chant of the young girl as she continued to hug her enthusiastically.

Ah I remember now...Yui sat up the best she could with the enthusiastic child literally attached to her stomach.

Flashback
Two years ago...

Yui was returning from collecting rare herbs from a steep mountain. She was tired from the hike and wanted to get home as soon as possible. Thus, she took a shortcut through the forest. Around halfway through the trip, she heard a cry for help. Recognizing the voice as a child's she followed the voice and saw four men gagging a young boy just like they had the girl. Long story short, Yui knocked the kidnappers out and released the children.

It wasn't hard for Yui to figure out who they were because she knew that their golden eyes (which emerge in times of great emotions) were traits of the royal family. To the shaken children, she gave a bright smile. Then, playfully addressing the girl as young lady and the boy as a young man, she asked if they wouldn't mind her being their escort back home. Once they nodded, she smiled again.

As she led them by the hands, Yui was completely oblivious to their thought exchange.

This lady is very different from the other ladies!

She fought off four men much larger than her with ease!

She is very beautiful!

She is kind and treats us like grownups! And...

Simultaneously delving into the snacks which they had originally nibbled cautiously, they moaned in delight.

She is an excellent cook!!!

It took nearly the whole day (as she had been out from sunrise) before Yui saw the highest tip of the castle, meaning that the castle entrance was close by. Jumping down the tree branch where she stood, she put a hand on the shoulder of each child.

"You're nearly home. Just a little bit more!" She said with a bright smile despite being extremely tired. What she didn't know was that to the children she looked ethereal at the moment with the setting sun casting its last rays on her, making her hair glisten and her smile brighter.

So beautiful...she must be a fairy princess...The twins thought with wonderment.

Albrecht in particular was starstruck. He had finally found a real fairy! He had long hidden his desire to see a real live fairy ever since his father inadvertently crushed the twin's dreams by bluntly telling them there were no such beings. (Of course the King had gotten a lashing from the Queen once she heard but that still didn't undo the damage) Not to mention, after personally seeing what women and girls were like, Albrecht couldn't help but also doubt the existence of fairies. Then he met Yui!

However his happiness in finding the fairy dissipated when he registered the meaning behind her words. Unfortunately, by that time, the trio had reached the edge of the forest and the gate was already in sight by that time.
