Since I ever could remember things, my world has been uncontrollable upside down

My birth name was Joann Scarlet-Toepfer and I was a male biologically, at least. It supposed to be Johann, but with reason I never know the Joan was given to me unchangeably. My parents were not married to each other, nor with somebody else. They took care of me only for 10 years before my biological father found another woman to anchor his heart. I was currently living with my mother's older sister, Marie, since one month after the breaking up thing, my own mother became a hit and run victim. It had been six years and today we -my aunt and I- got pups to be added as Toepfer. Their name were Ernst and Emily Toepfer. I was thankful for having a generous aunt that I suggested she should build a foster home. By adding two toddlers mean we had five family members to feed. And as the oldest child in this house, I would be the caretaker. We could not afford babysitter because the living expense was already high. If only she was hella rich, I would already spent three-quarter of my time to have fun.

"So, what's their reason to dump their children to us?," I asked nonchalantly, shoving another potato chip in my mouth. My eyes still focused on the toddlers that were giggling to each other while eating a baby biscuit.

"Joann, don't use such a word. You know you will break their heart eventually," she complained, sighing out. "Well, Melissa was pregnant by accident and it turned out that she was only a side chick. The babies' father is a famous lawyer and already has a family."

By this point I really did not understand her logic anymore, "So, what's the reason for this Melissa to dump her children to us? You know we're not a foster home right?

"It's not Melissa. She is my friend's daughter. Her husband doesn't agree that Melissa is sacrificing her youth to nurse two children. Having the pregnant issue is discovered to their neighbourhood is already a worst state. And they can't defend themselves to the court for rape or sexual harassment. You know, him being an influential lawyer, Melissa is already 20 years old, and it's definitely a consensual intercourse since they have been met each other for almost one year. But don't worry my dear nephew, that man left a huge amount of money for Melissa and the babies. And the Grunt gave half of the amount."

Marie smiled assuring to me that everything is getting handled well. Seriously, her parents should just dump them to a legal foster home, not us. Indirectly they sacrificed my youth. A perfect stranger to them.

"So, why not a foster home?"

"Melissa loves her children. She doesn't want them in the wrong hand, so I.. we are the only option they have. Well, I have to go to work. I'll be back at seven as usual, okay."

She gave me a peck on my both cheeks before rushing to the gate house. I was thankful for having a generous aunt that raises me up when I had nobody cared about me. Well, my mother was dead in medical term and so did my father in my living term. But not today, she was kind of a heartless woman to force me nurturing a bunch of children to the date I have never known. These children might growing up and be independent but I did not know exactly know the time Marie would stop her addicted toward adoption. She should just open a foster home.
