"Brooklynn, Brooklynn,"

I opened my eyes to the sound of my name. My hand lifted to my face and rubbed my eyes, causing everything to go fuzzy. Everything being harsh florescent lights, that burned my eyes. Sitting up slightly, I could see that I was in a hospital room, dreary and white, as they always were. In front of myself, I saw a group of people, with all of their eyes trained on me. Not recognizing any of the faces, I closed my eyes for a couple of seconds, and hoped that I would know who some of them were when I opened them again. All of a sudden, my head began to throb. It felt like someone had slammed something sharp into the back of my skull, like the corner of a table.

"Ow." I mumbled, my voice hoarse, as I reached to touch the back of my head. This time when I opened my eyes, I saw my mother emerge from the crowd. "Mom, what happened?" I croaked.

"You fell sweetie." She answered softly, as tears welled up in her eyes. "But you're ok now." She added.

"Can I have a glass of water?" I whispered.

"Absolutely." My mom said, taking a bottle of water from the table beside the bed, and unscrewing the cap.

I took it from her, and carefully brought the top to my mouth, tipping the bottle back slowly, and drinking a small amount, to douse the fire in my throat.

"How long was I asleep?" I asked, after the water settled in my stomach. I still didn't recognize anyone in the room, and I definitely didn't remember falling.

"Two days." My mother replied, sitting down on the bed beside me.

     "So it's...Thursday?" I asked.

My mom shook her head. "It's Monday honey." She told me.

"No it's not. If I was out for two days, then it's Thursday the sixth." I explained.

"Brooklynn, today is Monday, the 19th of June." My mom said growing more and more concerned as I argued with her.

"Mom it's Thursday the sixth of March, 2015." I said.

At this, someone gasped, and someone else ran out of the room.

     "What's wrong?" I asked.

"Just relax honey, the doctor will be here in a moment." My mom said, glaring across the room at someone.

I followed her gaze to a boy, who looked about a year or two older than I. He had short brown hair, that was longer on the top and shorter on the sides. He had fair skin, that suited his blue eyes wondrously. As he saw her stare, he looked at me with his bright blue eyes, before standing up and leaving the room, following the path that parted in the group.

I watched him leave, and wondered who he was, and why he seemed to have to do with everything.

After he left, my mother put her head in her hands, and I watched as people began to leave the room, until it was just my mother and I. And we waited in silence until the doctor arrived.

 . . .

"Good morning Miss Davis!" The doctor said cheerfully, as she walked into the room. She was a young lady, probably in her early 30's, with short blonde hair, and a round smiling face.

"My name is Doctor Clifton, and I will be running some preliminary tests on you to see how you are doing." She explained.

     "Alright." I replied.
