It's been a week since we last talked. My boyfriend of 2 years , Tyler, and I hadn't been going so smooth lately. We'd had a huge argument a week ago, and hadn't spoken since. All of my friends were advising me to move on, but I was thought there was still hope for our relationship. Tyler and I had walked through hell and back together, and I was not going to let that all go to waste because of a disagreement.
I decided to go for a walk that afternoon to clear my mind. There is a nice park around the corner from my house so I walked there for a break. When I approached the park I could see a couple sitting on the bench in the distance. I couldn't help but think of Tyler and I, and all the romantic walks we used to take. The closer I got the clearer they became. There he was, my boyfriend Tyler, sitting on the park bench with his arm around another girl. I started to run, and I could feel my cheeks getting hot. I sprinted faster than I ever had before, all of my anger was pushing me forward. He saw me running towards him and quickly jumped up from the bench.
"Who the hell is this," I questioned angrily through my teeth.
"Um, Amanda. I didn't expect to see you here," Tyler replied nervously, looking at the ground.
"That does not answer my question. Why are you sitting with your arm around this girl?"
"Uh, yeah. This is my friend Jacklyn. I was , um, moving her hair for her."
"C'mon Tyler don't give me this bullshit," I huffed as cool tears began streaming down my warm cheeks.
"No, dead ass," Tyler said gesturing towards Jacklyn.
Jacklyn just sat there quietly, trying not to draw attention to herself. I knew damn well she was just sitting there listening, but I was too furious to care. I could see her mindlessly flipping through a magazine, in the corner of my eye.
"Let me guess, you guys press your lips together to see if they're chapped?"
"Alright, fine," Tyler admitted. "This is Jacklyn Campbell, and we got to talking after that fight we had. I'm sorry, but I felt so alone and I didn't know how to handle it."
"So what happened to us? We've been together for over 2 years Tyler, 2 years!"
"I know, and I'm sorry but I don't think we can work this out," Tyler sighed and ran his hand through his thick brown hair.
"Well we'll never know until we try, right," I could feel my hands shaking by my sides.
"I'm sorry Amanda," Tyler said walking back to the bench.
"Fine, I don't need you. I'll find happiness without you."
I bolted. My face was wet from all the tears, and I felt congested. I was in such disbelief, and my heart felt 10 times heavier. I thought I was going to marry that boy. He was my knight in shining armor. The rest of the walk home, I wiped countless tears away from my eyes. I got home and slammed the door to my room, and flopped onto my bed. I buried my head into a pillow and just cried. I cried for a solid 30 minutes. I finally came to my senses and told myself to pull it together. It was Sunday, which meant I had to go to school tomorrow.
