The Nerd I Loved (Block B Taeil)

Chapter 7

"But .. my mom must be waiting for me at home.." I said. I'm pretty much going to be yelled at for coming home late anyways, imagine how she would react if I didn't come after a while and told her I was with a guy.

"Just tell her you went to the mall with 2ne1, she won't find out," he said with a wink. His actions made it impossible for me to oppose, although that conscience of mine was bothering me like crazy. We got into his car and he drove us to the mall.

After good laughs and conversations at the mall, he drove me home.

"Kai, I'm scared .. " I said, not wanting to get out of the car. "Can you come with me?"

He made a face and shook his head. "She's your mom, shouldn't you be the one dealing with her? Tell her a lie, you went at the mall with 2ne1, I don't know. Good luck," he said as I got out of the car and he simply drove off. Well, that was nice. I hope you heard the sarcasm. Kai seems to have mood swings way too often, but that's kinda the first time he responded quite rudely to me.

I unlocked the door with my keys and opened the door, and my mom was in the living room with Mrs.Lee and Taeil.

"Chaerin where were you?" She asked with glare. I opened my mouth, waiting for an answer to appear through my head.

"You must've been working on that biology project with Dara, right?" Taeil asked. At first, I was so confused on what he said. Biology project? With Dara? Then I finally got what his intentions were. I nodded.

"It took forever to finish, sorry mom," I lied. She nodded.

"Next time, answer your texts or calls," she said. I checked my phone and saw 13 new messages and 7 missed calls, all from her. I sighed and went upstairs and then I heard a knock and a short nerd walked in.

"Hey," he said with his teeth showing smile, showing those blue braces once again.

"Thanks for saving me," I mumbled. He simply nodded and sighed.

"What?" I told him. He simply shook his head.

"Well then .." I uttered.

"We did have a biology project though, just letting you know."

"What?!" I panicked. I looked at the clock and it was already 8:00.

"How am I supposed to finish in just an hour or so? I'll have to go to sleep soon!" I exclaimed.

"I'll help you, it wasn't that hard. It's just a presentation on the mechanisms of evolution, nothing more," he replied. And how am I supposed to do that?

"Use the worksheet we worked on at school as a guidance. While you do so, I can help make your wallpaper through photoshop. Your presentation has to be through Prezi, it's more fancy than a PowerPoint," he explained. I nodded.

"Wait, you know how to photoshop?" I asked him. He smiled.

"Probably not my face, but yeah. I love it," he replied. Wow, he's full of surprises.

When he finished the wallpaper and I finished the presentation, I was exhausted.

"Thanks for helping me, for the second time today," I told him with a smile. He smiled back and nodded.

"I deserve a reward."

I looked at him in confusion. "What?"

His eyes turned into puppy eyes, the cutest puppy eyes in the world, oh my gosh.

This kid has aegyo.

"I want a hug."

I froze as my heart thumped hard. Wait, why? It must be because I don't want to. No way am I going to hug Taeil, ew.

Then when I look back at him, he has those puppy eyes and pouting lips, making it hard for me to say no.

"N-no," I replied, turning away.

"But Chaerin, you've never given me one before. Pleeeease?" He pleaded as his puppy eyes got larger. He was now tugging on my arms slightly. Before he could react, I quickly turned and wrapped my arms around him. Now that I think of it, he wasn't really any shorter than me. He hugged back tightly, not letting me go for a couple of seconds. It actually felt comfortable, like I wanted to be in his arms forever.

He smiled as he hugged me, surely enjoying it. After a while, I tapped his back.

"Yah, you can let go now," I whispered to him. He let go and smiled brightly.

"You hugged me for the first time, you have no idea for how long I've been waiting for that!" He exclaimed with a smile. I felt my cheeks heat up and I looked down at the floor.

"Woah, it's late. My mom and your mom must be so into their conversation," Taeil said, looking at his watch. Wait, is that even a watch? I stepped closer and it was more like a screen on a strap and showed the time with designs around it.

"Like it? I got it online for $150. You can play games on it too!" He exclaimed, pressing some button on the side as a game popped up.

"I wouldn't be surprised if you were the one that had invented that watch," I replied with a giggle. He smiled brightly.

"Maybe I can invent stuff like that, but I have another career in mind," he responded.

"What is it?" I asked him. "Engineer? Doctor? Lawyer?"

"You'll see," he simply said with a smile. We walked downstairs together and our moms were still talking nonstop.

"Umma, it's late, we should get going," Taeil told his mom. They turned to us and smile brightly. I feel something going on here ..

"Chaerin, is it true there will be a dance at school?" My mom asked. I nodded unsurely, not sure why she asked that.

"You and Taeil should go together!" Mrs.Lee exclaimed. Her words caught me off guard.

"What?!"
