Need For Speed
Toby Marshall opened the garage door to Marshall Repair shop as the hot sun shined against the back of his leather work jacket. The door opened to reveal a rather amateur garage with a limited supply of tools. In the corner of the shop was an old Dodge Challenger in desperate need of repair. The car once belonged to the former owner of the repair shop, 'Rick Marshall' also, Toby's father. Toby loved his father, they would go and watch races all the time as the local race track and he would also help his father with building and repairing cars which would have been brought into the shop. Since then, he's always had a passion for cars and that's why he took over the shop when his father passed. Toby walked over to the small staff room in the corner of the garage. The only things of interest in the room was an 'only just working' coffee machine and a calendar with slightly torn pages around the edges. He turned on the coffee machine and the room was suddenly drowned out with the sound of the rattling filters in the machine. He could see a figure from the corner of his eye, he turned around to see Pete, one of his co-workers and his former street racing partner. Toby looked over at Pete with a startled face "Jesus Pete, don't creep up on me like that". Pete looked at Toby with a smirk on his face and looked over at the torn calendar on the wall. "Sorry boss" Pete replied. "So what are we meant to be working on today?" Pete asked. Toby was about to reply but was stunned by the black Mercedes that rolled up to the entrance of the garage. Toby looked at Pete, "one second Pete". Saying this, he walked over to the car that had just came to the shop and saw a man with a formal suit on and recognized that it was a man from the back that he saw his father talk to dozens of times. Toby walked over to man and instantly offered a hand. They shook hands and exchanged greetings with each overs. It was all and great for a while but then things needed to get serious, Toby knew that the shop was going bankrupt and he was trying everything that could help get the business back on track but nothing seemed to be working, this the real reason why he went back to street racing. To his friends, he started street racing again because he wanted to, not because he had to. Each race he was earning around $150 to $200 per race. The only problem was, that wasn't enough. They both stood out in the hot sun which burned onto their backs. "Look Toby, I wish I could help, but honestly, this has been going on for too long, if you don't find a way to come up with the money, then you're going to have to shut this place down". Toby didn't like the answer but he knew that it was going to happen sooner or later. Toby looked up at the man with a bold face and said, "Look, I'll find a way, just give me a month or two extra to come up with money". "Look, I'm sorry toby but this payment needs to be paid by the end of this month or the shop is going to be closed down, and that is honestly all I have to say for now", he looked at toby for the final time and said "I wish I could help Toby, I really do, and if there's anything I could do I would but I can't", saying this, he got back into his car, and drove off down the road. Toby's eyes followed the car as it drove down the road. In frustration, he hit the closest thing he could which was a bin. The bin fell over and rolled over to the side walk where it laid vacant. Pete walked to the entrance of the garage and look at Toby. "Everything alright boss?" Toby looked around at Pete with a concerning smile. "Yeah, why wouldn't they be". Toby's words concerned Pete. "Who was that guy who just left?" "Oh, him? He was just someone who knew my dad and popped by to share his regards" Pete knew that that wasn't the case but ignored it and walked back into the shop. At that moment, more employees of the shop started to show up to work. A black camero parked up along the side of the shop and two men stepped out in black overalls with had the logo 'marshals repair shop' knitted onto the side. The two men walk over to Pete and Toby. Toby looked at them and addressed in a not so formal manner. "Chris, jack, how's it going". Chris spoke first, "yeah, not bad how about you". "not bad as well, just had some guy who knew my dad come to the shop to share his regards due to his passing but other than that not to bad". Saying this, all four of them walked into the shop, Pete and Jack started work on one of the cars which had been brought in the previous morning whereas Toby and Jack walked back into the staff room. Toby knew what Jack was going to say to him, and he was right. "So, are you going to be racing tonight?" asked Jack.
