She was shaking. The weight of the world becoming too much. Tears sliding down her cheeks like the heavy chains she felt dragging her down day by day. Their words cut through her sharper than any blade could.
She wiped at her cheeks and pushed her hair back that had fallen over her face. She numbly starred at her refection.
This was it.
One more day.
She lived for one more day.
She decided to herself that if someone, anyone, showed her any kind of kindness she wouldn't do it. She wouldn't take those words and turn them into a knife and have them pierce through her one last time. She wouldn't let those chains finally drag her to her knees. She had her mind made up.
So she went out into the world. The world that haunted her day by day.
She went to school, the place she dreaded, the people she hated, the people who hated her. She walked through the hallway looking for nothing but kindness.
She found hate, disgust, sadness, but not kindness. When she was shoved into the locker and her books flew, no one batted an eyelash at her.
Laughter sounded around her as a tear slid towards her books. The words stung, they always did. She looked up
Blue eyes.
She saw the blue eyed boy, the only one not laughing.
Not an act of kindness yet but it was something.
A flicker of hope.
She pushed her way to the bathroom ignoring the stares that threatened to tear her apart.
Did anyone care anymore? She thought.
Definitely not the girls who made her tears so much worse in the bathroom.
Definitely not the brown haired boy who purposley spilled his red soda all over her.
But the blue eyed boy stood in the back.
She turned away from them all, heading the opposite direction. So tired of it all.
She turned away before she got to see the blue eye boy yelling at the brown haired boy.
She turned away before she got to see that hope, that act of kindness.
The bus drive seemed as if it went on forever. Numbness was all she felt.
She got off the bus and spotted the bridge. The bridge, the river rushing rigorously beneath it. She was going to let the waters carry her suffering away.
She walked towards the bridge, tears brimming her eyes.
Standing on the edge of the bridge, needing just one push to end it all.
"It's beautiful isn't it." She turned to see the blue eyed boy, but said nothing. "You see those flowers over there, their called Bachelor's buttons, they signify hope," when he walked away and she was ready to jump, until he ran back to her and placed the flower in her hair.
"Please have hope."
Now she stood over the same bridge, the blue eyed boy on her right, a ring on her finger, a flower in her hair. Because of his kindness she lived.
