Chapter 1

"Mother!! The Festival of the Lanterns is held tomorrow, did you prepare our hanfu's?" Taehyung, a boy with beautiful, long, black hair called to his mom. "Honey, of course, we never miss the Lantern Festival!" His mom, Taeyeon, answers back, amused that her son was still so excited even though the two of them go every year.

Taeyeon nodded towards the closet at the back of the living room, "it's right in there, draped on the racks." Taehyung jumped up and down excitedly as he rushed towards the closet. "Oh, this is new. Good heavens, look at the fabric! It's so soft! This is beautiful, mother. We have matching hanfus!!" Taehyung lightly rubbed his hand in the fabric of the purple hanfu.

Taeyeon just laughed,"yep, I bought them when I visited the South side." "Thank you, mother! They really are beautiful!" Taehyung smiled and quickly hugged his mother when he got out of the closet. The hanfu looks like this.

Taehyung's POV
I woke up in the morning feeling happy because I knew that today was the day if the festival!!! I'm really excited to wear the beautiful hanfu and style my hair. The hanfu is magnificent. I started off the day by doing what everyone does in the mornings: brush my teeth and use the restroom. We only take showers at night. After doing all that, I call mother up and make breakfast. I decided to cook porridge sweetened with a spoonful of sugar with some dried fish and pickled radish. We live in the East side, so pickled radishes are a rare thing here. Mother had bought it the same day she bought the hanfus, when she visited the South side. "Mother, our breakfast is ready!" I called to her, after I finished setting the table. I sat down on the ground with my knees under me and started eating. (The tables are low, so they have cushions to sit upon)

"Mother, I'm finished, I'll go get the water." I announced as I got the buckets. I get water from the nearby river every morning for our family, I didn't need a lot of water because it was just mom and I. The water I used to cook the porridge was from yesterday.

"Hey, Kyungie hyung!!" I waved at my friend, Kyungsoo. "Taetae!! How's my cute little dongsaeng doing?" Kyungsoo greeted me back. "Fine, hyung. I'm really excited for the Festival of the Lanterns tonight!! Are you going?" I excitedly said. "Yeah, with Kai." Kyungsoo replied with a blush. I giggled,"hyung, you get so shy and cute when you talk about your beloved!" (A/N: damn no one liked chansoo, i'm changing it to kaisoo. i ship both anyways ;) ) "Shut up, you shithead!!" Kyungsoo cursed and picked up his bucket, now full of water, and walked towards the direction of his house. "Awww, now I'm bored again."

I head towards the child care place, basically where everyone leaves their children at when they go to work, after I brought the buckets of water home. I always go to the child care place, it's kind of a hobby. I absolutely adore small children!!

"Mistress Ahn!! I'm here again!!" I announced myself at the owner of the child care place. "Ah, Taehyung!! Hello. You'll need to go to the yellow room, everyone's waiting for your visit!!" I laughed and headed towards the room.

"Taehyung oppa!!!" All the little girls ran towards me as I walked in. I giggled as I sat down and hugged them.

"Taehyung hyung!!! We want to play tag." The boys screamed. "Haha, okay. Let's play tag everyone!!!" I stood up and told everyone to get in a circle. "We're gonna decide the two people that are it by playing.... rock, paper, scissors!!!" I announced and started the game.

After we played, I gave all the little kids kisses and hugs, before I headed back home and prepare for the festival!

"Mother!! I'm home, can I put on the hanfu first?" I yelled in a random direction, since I didn't know where she was. "Alright!! Darling, what type of hair do you want??" I went to put on the beautiful, flowing, hanfu. "Um, the standard hairstyle!! The one where the front is tied to the back, but the hair is still let down." I smiled when I finished putting on the hanfu. "It really is magnificent."

After Taehyung put on the hanfu, Taeyeon changed too. "Now, for the hair, honey!" Taeyeon smiled and waved Taehyung over in front of the mirror. "Awww, my cute son is so beautiful!!!" Taeyeon laughed brightly and began styling Taehyung's hair.

"There!! Perfect." Taeyeon smiled when she finished styling Taehyung's hair. "Now it's your turn, mother." Taehyung smiled and lightly pushed on Taeyeon's shoulders to make her sit down.

"Mother. It's time!!" Taehyung rushed towards the door. "The Festival will be starting soon!! Everyone's walking towards it." Taeyeon laughed and let Taehyung pull her towards the Festival of the Lanterns.

Now walking along side each other, Taehyung started a conversation as he chewed on his squid. "Aren't the Kings coming to announce the Princes being the next Kings??" Taeyeon nodded her head,"the next Kings of the North and West side!!" "Hmm, mother, why don't you get yourself a man while I walk around!!!" Taehyung wiggles his eyebrows and ran off.

Taeyeon blushed and looked to see who Taehyung was talking about. "Baekhyun!! Nice to see you here!! Excuse my son." Taeyeon laughed awkwardly. " "Looks as if he takes after his mother. You always tried to set people up when we were kids." Baekhyun smiled back.

Meanwhile, Taehyung walked around while searching for people he knew. "The Kings and their sons will be announced shortly after this announcement, everyone meet at the center!!!" Taehyung heard the Kings guards shout.

Taehyung's POV
I heard them calling for everyone, so I set off towards the center of the Lantern Festival. "Kyungie hyung, Jongin hyung!! Enjoying your night together??" I asked, wiggling my eyebrows at Kyungsoo hyung.

"Hey, Taetae!! And we're just fine, we're just going to see the Kings now!!" Kai replied. "Can I go with, since I'm headed there too??" I asked and used aegyo on them. "Fine, Taetae. Just don't cause trouble." Kyungsoo hyung sighed and we all started walking towards the center.

"The Kings of the North will now give his crown to his son--the new King of the North!!" The announcer clapped, signaling everyone to do the same. I couldn't see the Kings or the new Kings since we were at the back. "Awww, I wish I was as tall as Jongin hyung!! Then I can see better!!" I whined. "No, your height right now is just right for you. You're the cute, small type. If you were taller that would be bad." Kyungsoo giggled. I laughed along and soon left to walk around some more.

I was holding a cup of water when I bumped into someone and dumped all the water on him. It was a secluded place on top of a hill, I had come so I can see the fireworks better.

"Ah!! I'm so sorry!! I didn't mean to--" I stopped when the person turned around. Okay, he's a total hottie. I bet he's muscular too!!! I noticed that he had the King of the North's crown on his head and I immediately bowed. "Your highness, I'm truly sorry this has happened to you. I really am. How do I apologize??"

The King of the North smirked as he got closer, while I backed away. "Pretty lady, you can come to my palace to be a new concubine." He whispered in my ear.
