"You're fat."
How did that make you feel? Like shit? Even for a moment, I bet you thought it was true, Deny it all you want but I know just as much as you that you're lying. It's funny, isn't it? For a split second, you can lose all hope, doubt yourself or even give up. A split second, a single word, one person can change the course of your life; For good.
You hear about the girl who cuts; the 'emo'. You hear about the girl who's had sex once; a 'slut'. Have you ever wondered why the girl who cuts actually cuts? Have you wondered how the girl who had sex felt? No, that's not what you or anyone else is designed to do. the majority of human beings on this earth are only looking out for themselves. Only they matter.
However, there are a few amongst us who give a damn about the less fortunate. That girl I mentioned earlier, who cuts... Think about it, if only someone out there could be there for her. Not a therapist, not a mentor at her school. Imagine if it was a stranger in the crowd. A stranger could have changed that girls life with one word... "Love".
That word can be used in so many combinations, so many sentences, endless possibilities:
"I love you"
"Someone out there will love you one day, you will grow old together and you'll be happy"
Those are two examples, two. Out of the countless possibilities. Why can't everyone realize that? Instead, they use other words like 'emo'... And for what? A joke? Something to make them feel good about themselves? Like I said, people only look out for themselves.
Again, let's look back to the girl who had sex with one person, the 'slut'. The majority of adults sleep with countless partners in their lifetime, so why does it matter if this girl has sex with one guy? One. How does the fact that she had sex even affect anyone else, other than the person she had sex with? It doesn't. That's the obvious and only answer.
In my opinion, people need to realize that they shouldn't judge someone based off of everyone else's opinion of that person. They shouldn't be a sheep. Neither should you.
Let's talk about that briefly; being a sheep. It's such an easy thing to become. I'm sure you've been a sheep at some point during your life, even I have. I get how easy it feels, just to follow someone and copy their every move. It relieves you of any extra pressure or work you would need to put in if you were the leader in that situation.
I feel like being a sheep is one of the worst ways for words to be spread. Just one rumour or even one word can be spread from the leader to the rest of the sheep. The sheep spread it amongst themselves and then that little social bubbles bursts and all of the rumours which have been created by twisting the leaders' words come out. The process can be so quick it's unbelievable to be honest. Imagine if you were the person all of the rumours were about though. All of a sudden your life's completely different because of all of this bullshit that's popped up out of nowhere.
Like I said; a split second, a single word, one person can change the course of your life; For good.
