Even If I Fall

Prologue : Our History

Have you ever wondered what this world would be like hundreds of years in the future? Just how far the creativity of humanity could take us? Or what kind of mysteries would be uncovered?

Well, let's just say it's not as fantastic as you would believe it to be. After all, the world practically went through an apocalypse already.

It has changed so much that you probably wouldn't even recognize it as the beautiful planet known as earth at one time.

This all started around the year 2076. At that time, a certain virus spread through the entire world. It was devastating, but the strange thing was that it didn't kill off humanity. Instead,  it caused a wide extinction of many plant species. Including most crops.

When this happened, most of the world went into an uproar, and every government moved out to secure whatever crop was left.

They than isolated the crops to keep them from the virus later known as the "Anti-Flora" virus. This idea proved to be effective, but humanity was still restless.

What exactly caused the virus?  Where did it come from? How did it spread from plant to plant?  These and many other questions where left unanswered for a very long time.

One thing is for sure. Humanity no longer had the resources to keep society functioning properly.

This put every government in a high state of alert. As greedy individuals, the governing bodies of each country didn't even give a thought to cooperating to find a solution and keep the peace.

Instead, they decided to start preparing to steal from each other.

"If our country doesn't have enough,  why not steal from others?" They thought.

This way of thinking happened all over the planet. Soon each country mobilized to secure resources from others.

Many of the smaller countries were easily conquered by the world's big powers. This lead to leading countries to grow in size and becoming even bigger behemoths.

After that, since the big countries secured enough resources,  they decided to keep low and observe the situation.  After all, no one wanted to see a fight between the world's super powers. At least, not at that time.

This lead to temporary time of peace that started in the year 2080. Unfortunately, the peace was destined to only last for 7 years.

Due too the growing shortage in supplies, the countries couldn't afford to be well mannered with their lower class citizens, and stopped supplying food to them.

Of course this lead to unrest in the hearts of their citizens. The leaders of their respective country knew this situation couldn't last long, or it would lead to rebellions from their citizens.

Therefore, they had to resort to once again, take from others. 

The big powers that were inactive for 7 years decided that it was no longer possible to keep balance among each other. This lead to one of the biggest mistakes in human history.

World War 3. Or as many historians called it, "The End War."

Why was it titled as such you ask?

Well let me remind you that in technology wise, humanity had progressed tremendously by the year 2087. This of course included the weapons that were created. And yes this included things such as laser guns or even your occasional mecha.

Now what would happen if the biggest countries in the world went to war with these new monstrous weapons?

One thing. Total destruction.
