I am Gabe Cortez, the local nobody in this small town called HarborStone. Why was I the nobody? Because life sucks. Especially for me.

Let's start with when I came to HarborStone. I came to this small town when I was fifteen years old. I had just turned fifteen, and I felt like I was on top of the world. I applied to a new school there as well. I walked into school on my first day, and everyone was staring at me. That took away a huge chunk of my confidence. I stumbled into the office with thirty eyes burning holes into my back. The elderly woman at the front desk stared at me.

"Hi," I swallowed my fears, and continued, "I'm Gabe Cortez, the transfer student? From Colorado?"

"Oh my!" The older woman exclaimed, "I'm Mrs.Hammett! It's a pleasure to meet you, young man."

"The feeling is mutual, Mrs.Hammett." I said warmly. "I don't know anything about this school,"

"That's right! You need a schedule and a map, don't you?" She asked.

"That would help, ma'am." I told her.

Then a girl walked into the office. Not just any girl, this girl was.. more than beautiful. She was astonishing. She had chestnut hair that fell just below her shoulders, these hazel eyes that stared past your act and saw deep into your soul. Her eyelashes were long and luscious, they framed her eyes perfectly. Her nose was straight but small. Her lips were pale pink, and deliciously full.

Her body was perfect, she looked like she belonged on a fashion magazine. She had the curves that every girl would dream of having. I hadn't seen many of the girls at this school, but I could already tell she was the prettiest. I realized I had been staring for too long.

"Hello, Miranda!" Mrs.Hammett exclaimed. "We have a new student here. Would you escort him to his class?"

Miranda looked at me for a second. "Sure," she finally decided.

"C-cool," I stammered. Cool? I thought, what is wrong with you? No one says "cool" anymore!

She smiled at me. Her smile was perfect. It dazzled me for a minute, it was as if I was frozen to the spot I stood in.

She looked at me with a concerned expression on her face, "Are you alright?" She asked.

"Oh, I'm grand." I said, smiling, "Lead the way!"

"Right. What's your first period?" She asked me.

"Um, English." I responded.

"Mine too!" She exclaimed. "Maybe we could sit together?"

"That would be great." I said.

We walked into the classroom and I immediately recognized three people who were staring at me this morning. They gawked at me when I walked in with Miranda.

There were two boys, and one girl. The girl was nowhere near as pretty as Miranda. She had blonde hair and bluish gray eyes. The boys were glaring at me. One had curly black hair with bright blue eyes, while the other had auburn hair with dark brown eyes.

When Miranda walked over to them, she dragged over a seat for me and sat down in the red headed boy's lap. She introduced me to everyone. The blonde girl was Samantha, the black haired boy was Christian, and the red headed boy was Jayden.

Jayden was constantly kissing Miranda's cheek. He bit her earlobe a lot and kept whispering in her ear. She kept giggling at what he was saying, but never responded to any of it.

Then, Miranda turned her attention to me. She asked me questions about my life, where am I from? What's my favorite color? Do I have any siblings? I answered as honestly as I could and she nodded and payed attention to everything I was saying. She talked to me as if.. I mattered and nobody else did. She talked to me as if I was.. real.

I knew she would never even look  at me again if she knew what I did to be forced to come here. But nobody  knows what I did. And nobody will ever  know what I did.
