"There isn't much more time, Alice. He will find us." I led my sister out of the tunnels and wiped the sweat off my brow. Only a few more yards and I think we may see the light of freedom.

I felt her slowing down and I looked down at her questioningly.

"Katya, my feet hurt!" She complained looking back up at me.

"I know, but we must leave now. It won't be long before he is back." I pleaded with her softly. All of the walking we were doing wasn't beneficial for either of us and I could tell it was taking it's toll on her. Running from an abusive father is never easy. I could tell she was still coping with the fact that he put his hands on her. I mean I was always the target but as soon as his blow hit her I knew it was time to get out.

"I'm s-scared sissy." It broke my heart to see her this way. Tears fell from her eyes and I used the pad of my thumb to wipe them away.

"There is no reason to feel scared Alice, I will always protect you. As long as I live and breathe, you will be okay." I responded in determination.

"Okay," She gave me a small smile and I smiled back.

"CUT!" The director yelled stopping the scene.

We looked up as a way of asking why the scene was paused.

"Put more emotion into your last line, I need to feel that you will always protect her." He instructed me.

I nodded and got back in place.

"aaaaaaaaand ACTION!"

By the time that I got home it was eight and I was tired from a hard day. Being a freelance actress wasn't easy. I wanted to lay down and sleep in my bed.

But I knew I had to come home and make dinner for my husband. By the time he got home, the pasta was boiling and the shrimp was still marinating.

He came into the kitchen and I kissed him on the cheek. "Hi honey, how was work?" I smiled.

But he didn't smile back. Instead it turned into a frown. "Why isn't dinner finished yet?" His tone made me jump.

"My acting classes took longer than usual, so I got a late start." I responded looking down at the ground.

"There is no need to waste time with those class, I make enough money for you to never have to work." He said holding his nose fuming.

"I know but- " I pleaded with him.

"I don't care! You belong at home and that's final." He commanded in his voice that made my skin crawl.

"Okay," I whispered softly. I felt him come behind me and hug me to him making me sigh.

In my movie roles, acting like an independent woman was easy. But actually being one was a totally different story.

How's that fourth wall for you.
