I was so glad when my parents came to pick me up from George's house. We had sat in almoat utter silence for hours, watching the baseball game. Guess its good that I started liking baseball last year.
I hobbled on my crutches into our house, and found my three siblings sitting on the couch watching tv. "BELLY!!" screamed Julia the second she saw me, then ran towards me. She wrapped herself around my torso, and squeezed as tightly as she could.
I tried to wrap an arm around her too, but I lost my balance trying to juggle the crutches. I made some sort of noise that I can't even attempt to describe as a fell back, thankfully into my mom who had been standing behind me.
"I think you need to Sid down and take it easy for a while, hunny," my she said sweetly. Mom knew that I would want to do anything but that.
I straightened myself up while giving an exasperated sigh. Just sitting around did not sound like fun. I reasoned with myself; I can't do any thing and I don't want to reinjure myself. Suck it up and just sit. My debate in my head prevented me from really hearing what everyone was saying. As I sat down in a chair, I refocused my attention to my mom.
"... good for dinner?"
A chorus of "Yes ma'am"s came from the three sitting on the couch.
"How about you Bell?" she asked, noticing I hadn't replied.
"Okie dokie," I replied. I wasn't really sure what she had asked, but I figured I would agree since everyone else did. Mom nodded, then left the room and headed for the kitchen. I made myself as comfortable as possible by slouching down in the cushy chair.
Once situated, I glanced over towards the couch, then did a double take when I realized they were all staring at me. "What!?"
Julia was the first to speak up. "Did getting sergerdy hurt?" she asked.
"Did you see your foot insides?!" Kevin chimmed in before I could answer.
Sam didn't say anything, but simply sat there looking at me with his big, shiney eyes. "Uhhh...well I think I was asleep... I don't really remember much." I didn't really know how to reply, since I really didn't remember anything.
"Well that's boring," Kevin murmured, just loud enough to be heard. He sounded disappointed, as if he was hoping I could describe to him what the inside of my foot looked like.
My less than exciting response made everyone turn back to the television.
"Nonchelaunt."
"Form of the word?"
"Ugh...chelaunt?"
The quiz show episode of Phineaus and Ferb was on again. A year or so ago the kids invited some of their friends over and we tried to recreate the episode. It hadn't worked out very well, but it was fun. Of corse, me being the older sister, I was cast as Candace. They got to shove a pie in my face, and thought it was the funniest thing ever. I have to admit, it was pretty funny.....
"So how was your day of hanging out with George?" Sam asked.
This caught me off guard. What do I tell him? Everything? Or just the basics?
"Eh it was fine. I slept most of the time, but I did get a peanut butter banana sandwich. That was the best part." ...or maybe the part right before it....
"Oh, cool." He didn't say anything else, and just turned back to the show. Alrighty then, Mr. Random.
Our dad eventually came and told us to wash up for dinner. Kevin and Julia ran straight to the bathroom to wash their hands. Sam, being a gentleman, helped me get up, since I had dropped my crutches to far for me to reach from the chair. He stopped a second before getting out of my way and just looked at me. I thought he was going to say something. His eyes seemed to be asking something, but he walked away before I could figure out what. That was even more weird than the random question about George. I didn't mind this one though, because I loved looking at his eyes do much. Maybe Sam's eyes did beat George's....
