Chapter 1 ~ a Deal With a Demon

You walked around the icy gardens outside Hillsborough castle and examined the frozen red roses. You heard a maid call out for you

"Dear y/n come in!!! It's time for lunch! And you have a visitor" she said in her sandpaper sounding voice that sent shivers down your back.

It had been exactly a year since your family died and the only thing that survived the burning of the boat they where on was your fathers diamond ice blue ring which you now wore on your thumb. Since your parents died you had been living with the Queen upon her orders so you weren't alone. You knew the Queen since you where little cause your family was the queens Cats, you creeped in the dark collecting information when no one was looking and silenced rats. But since your parents passed away the Queen hasn't let you take on any cases, giving them all to her guard dog and spider. According to the Queen you couldn't take on cases because you were "too young" and didn't have "enough experience". Even though you where only a year younger then the guard dog and have had experience, she wouldn't listen to you. So now you where stuck in one of the queens castles she rarely visits with maids and butlers who abuse and don't take care of you. You couldn't stand it!

You headed inside and was right-away yanked by the collar by the same maid who called you in. She had grey hair tied up into a tight bun and was wearing a typical maid uniform. Her name is Ms. Winders, she was the maid who usually took care of you and the one who by far abused you the most. She pulled you into a closet and let go of your collar

"The Queen is here" she said in her icy tone

"So what?" You said back, with the emotionless expression you had for the past year

"So be on your best behavior!!!! And don't you dare tell her about what we do when she's not around, or you'll have no food for two weeks!" She threaded

You nodded and she let you out of the closet you quickly tidied up your h/l h/c hair that was in a pretty low bun. Then you slowly made your way to the dining room where the Queen was waiting, with her loyal servant Ash standing behind her.

"My dear Y/n!!!" She greeted in her cherry voice, she wore her usual veil and black dress

"Hello" you said and bowed

"Take a seat!" She invited

You took your seat the the end of the long table

Once you took your seat several maids came in serving food. The Queen was poured a glass of wine, and you a glass of juice. The servants served you a dish of stake, mash potatoes, and greens all drizzled in steak sauce.

The chef came into the room and announced the meal "here we have freshly mashed potatoes, freshly cut juicy steak from Paris, and assorted greens from the gardens, all topped with the famous royal sauce"

"Lets eat!!" The Queen announced

You slowly ate your meal enjoying it, the same bored unsatisfied expression on your face the whole meal. Once you and the Queen where done the maids took away the dishes and served desert, which was chocolate moose with whipped cream. You slowly ate your moose then your queen started up a conversation.

"So how, do you like life at the royal place?"

"Well...." you stared and could feel the eyes of Ms. Winders staring into the back of your head "I'm doing great..... life here is...great" you said

"Oh that's just lovely! I'm so glad to hear that!" The Queen replied

You finished your moose and the maids took away your dish

"How are your lessons going?" She asked

"There going good I suppose...." you replied

Your piano,violin, dancing, English, French, and History lessons where going well.... but your math, science, and other lessons where dreadful. Luckily all your teachers and tutors where nothing like your manor staff and where the same ones your parents had hand picked for you before they died. But sadly you couldn't tell them of your abuse no matter how much you wanted to.

"How is Lily?" She asked

"She's dead...." you said your emotion not changing from your dull unimpressed face

Lily was the cat the Queen got you when your parents died. She was a old tabby cat and you hated her. She always scratched you and you where allergic to cats and hated them and couldn't stand to be around them.
(Sorry if you really like cats, this will change later any way)

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that" the Queen commented

Ash then whispered something in her ear and she nodded and for some reason you could tell she was smiling. She whispered back in Ash's ear.

"I'm going to go and walk around the gardens, according to your maids you have lessons to get to, I hope to see you at dinner." The Queen said and then stood up and left the room with Ash following her.

Ms. Winders walked into the room "its time for your dancing lesson with Ms. Eddies, then you have a music less with Mr. Maddison. Then you have some mail to go though on your bed side table. After that you'll need to eat dinner and sleep!!!" She ordered

~later that day~

"It's Bed time!!" Ms.Winders announced annoyed and ripped your clothing off you harshly then threw a night gown at you, you slipped it on. She forcefully then pulled your hair out of the pretty bun it was in and pushed you into your bed and blew out all the candles in the room

"Good night sweet y/n" she said leaving the room

You laid in your bed thinking

How could I, a noble come to this!!!! Abused! Alone! And not taking my place as Earl!!!

You ran your hand down serval deep cuts and scars that ran down your arms, legs, and torso that the servants gave you. You began to cry

You curled up into a ball and cried about every thing, this was the first time you cried in ages....

Then suddenly the sheets of your bed was ripped off.... not her not the she-demon! You thought, you couldn't to let her see you cry

Then a smooth male voice your didn't recognize spoke "hello Miss.L/n"

You stayed silent

"I can grant you any thing you want, i can free you from this night mare, we can make a contract, but in return i get your soul.."

Any thing you wanted.....

You thought long and hard before answering.

"Can you get me out of here?"

"Of course, that's easy" he replied

You scoffed "well if that's easy then I'll have something better... something more long term" you said the wheels turning in your head "I want you to be my loyal butler and grant any thing I wish, to your best of power, until I die of old age or sickness" you ordered
"Deal!" He said

After that you signed the contract with him. You got a seal, you put yours on the right side of your neck, somewhere you could easily hide with hair. You also got to name him, you choose the name Hugo! It sounded nice..... this changed every thing, you where now in change!
