become aware of things.

depression leads you to a dead-end, leaving no way to escape, nothing to see except this giant wall that is splashed with both helplessness and hopelessness.

you fail to see what you are missing out on, or maybe you do see it but just don't have enough will to act upon it. there may or may not be people who care about you, but there is always you who obliviously cares about you.

this feeling stops you from caring for yourself.

no one is inhabited by this feeling since birth, you can still do all the things you used to, show that feeling that you don't need to depend on it to feel comforted.

depression is not the only thing you have ever known.

you have known how to walk around isolated parks, or bike across gravelly roads, or letting the strings of a guitar leave imprints against your calloused fingertips.

you have known how to lose your body to the music, or let the music overpower your lungs as you sing. you have known how to write, how to swim, how to draw, how to create intricate letters of calligraphy, how to skip, how to play football, how to breathe.

and somehow, you let this feeling tell you that you know nothing. that you are worth nothing. that you can do nothing.
