My name is Renhet Favian, I am the princess of the Favian bloodline.
I rehearsed those words over and over in my head. Trying to make myself believe that I wasn't scared and completely prepared for this. I'm not! I'm scared! And nervous! Why do I have to marry someone anyway? Yea it's an old tradition of carrying on the Favian bloodline, but it seems a little mid-evil. And apparently I seem to be the only one who sees it.
I sigh and adjust my long, fluffed, white dress and look in the mirror and sigh. I gently touch the tips my long blonde hair and admire the wonderful job my maidens did on my makeup.
I looked down from my balcony seeing all the people from all four kingdoms flood into our castle walls. It's a masquerade ball, so I won't know who I'm meeting. Or my four 'suitors'. I roll my eyes thinking about it.
I hear the orchestra playing music. I suppose I should head down to greet everyone. I gently put on my mask and admire it in my vanity, looking at the beautiful designs of swans almost makes me a little excited to go to this ball. Everyone will surely know who I am, the only young maiden wearing white. I walk through the candle lit halls, hearing the music increase with every foot step. I stop before entering the hall to walk down the staircase and breathe.
I am Princess Renhet Favian.
I walk down the stairs and everyone and everything stops, even the music. Everyone is staring at me. I walk to the bottom and curtesy.
Don't mess up.
I look up and a gentleman in a red suit is standing before me, holding his hand out to me, with a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. I gently take his hand and he pulls me towards him, "Hello Princess." He says quietly to me as the music starts up again. He leads and we dance in front of everyone and slowly people start to dance as well.
I smile a little "How did you know that I was the princess hmm?" I ask. He smirks widely, his blue eyes brimming with playfulness. "A girl in an all white dress, hair a brilliant platinum blonde, skin as radiant as the moon itself" he tilts my chin up to him and smirks wider "I see your eyes are the emerald green that is foretold in legend. You are the princess Renhet." I blush at his movements and pull my chin aback from his gentle grasp. "Well if you know my name, may I know yours?" I ask as he twirls me. He grins, "No actually, didn't you hear about the rules of tonight?" I tilt my head and furrow my eyebrows. "Rules?" He nods and dances with me, "There will be four men, including myself, that will dance with you. At the end of the night, we will stand before you and whomever you pick as your favorite that has courted you tonight, you will spend the first week with him."
How come I wasn't told this in the first place?
I sigh and dance with him. He notices my frown and gently pulls me to his chest and rests a hand on my back between my shoulder blades. "I know this all seems unfair, but it's how our lives are planned, Ren."
Ren?
I look up at him questioningly and open my mouth but he twirls me and suddenly I feel someone else's hands in mine. I look up to see a man in a blue suit smirking at me. I look back to see, we'll just call him 'Red' for now, Red was glaring at 'Blue'. Blue just smirked across at him and then looked down at me and grinned. "Good evening Princess Renhet" he said smoothly. His voice was like butter. I hummed "Hello..." He laughed and tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear and kissed my hand. "How are you this evening my lady?" I hummed and looked into his hazel eyes, "To be honest, I am dreadfully tired." He laughs and sighs "I am too, if we're both being honest anyway. But you walked in and made my evening far more exciting." I felt myself blush "Oh u-" before I could finish, I was whisked away again by someone's hands who felt unfamiliar.
It was a man in a teal suit. He grinned widely, in pretty sure his teeth were pearl white. "Hey beautiful." I laughed, something about him was warm and kind immediately. "Hello, you certainly whisked me away didn't you?" He shrugged and smirked and waved over at Blue. Blue just rolled his eyes and stood next to Red. Teal looked back at me and laughed "He's a gentleman type. No fun if you ask me. He's very old fashioned too." I love how he's so relaxed. I raised an eye brow, "And what about Red over there?" Teal peered over at Red who was currently staring at us. Teal shrugged and looked back at me "I haven't heard much about him, but he has a mysterious sort of vibe to him."
This is the most relaxed I've been all night. "And what about you Teal? Who are you?" I pretended to think about it and spun and dipped me and smirked a little "Someone fun for you to maybe hang out with a little." He stood me up and as soon as I did, hands grabbed around my waist and spun and dipped me. I looked to see that a man with a black suit and green tie had grabbed me. He was smirking faintly, "Hey Renhet" he gently kissed my nose and stood up with me close to him. I blushed and gasped and was about to yell at him when he raised an eye brow. "You don't want to make a scene do you?"
Oh I'll make a scene buddy.
I rolled my eyes and danced with him, "I won't. But I certainly am not enjoying my time right now." He smirked and spun me and pulled me closer when I spun back. "Aw that's cute. You don't like bad boys?" He said as he blew into my ear. I blushed and tried to pull away but his grip was strong. I looked over to see Teal absolutely fuming but was being held back by Blue. Red was just staring at us, I noticed his fists were clenched though. I looked back at Green, "I don't actually. So quit breathing in my ear!"
Purity or not I will kick your ass.
I stopped on his toe discreetly and he groaned and gritted his teeth. I batted my eyes and curtsied, "You don't like good girls do you?" He smirked and caught my hand before I left and said, "Oh you're no good girl." I rolled my eyes and walked over to my maidens. Clarissa, one of my maidens, gently touched my shoulder and whispered, "It's time." I nodded and we headed into a private room where all four boys where.
Teal grinned when he saw me, "Renhet! Oh how I've missed you." Blue rolled his eyes "You aren't suave at all." Red laughed and shook his head at them while green just kept quiet. I cleared my throat, "Well I suppose I'll choose which man I'll spend the first week with." They all stood and watched me intently.
Okay wow this is intense.
"I will spend my first week with Teal." Teal grinned widely and Blue stared at him. Clarissa nodded "You will choose the man for next week at the garden party held here." I sighed and nodded. "You may take off your masks now." Green revealed his pale complexion. He had dark grey eyes, light grey hair, and a amazingly structured jaw. "I am Prince Leopold Emraldi." He said smirking. Next Blue took off his mask to reveal his tan skin, hazel eyes, and dark chocolate hair. He smiled "I'm Prince Caspian Prime."
Wow okay attractive people so far.
Teal took off his mask to reveal his fair skin, millions of freckles, blue eyes, and auburn hair. He laughed and smiled "I'm Archibald Penem." I looked at Red, and he removed his mask to show his light skin, sky blue eyes, and light brown hair. "I'm Nicholas Rouge." He smirked.
Okay they're all attractive.
Caspian looked at me, "May we see your face my lady?" I nodded and slowly removed my mask. Leopold stared at me wide eyed, Caspian stared with his mouth open, and Nicholas ever so slightly parted his lips and stared. "WOW YOU'RE SO GORGEOUS HOLY CRAP!" Shouted Archibald. Caspian hit Archi on the back of his head "Do NOT address her like that!" I laughed.
Hah dorks
"It's alright, I don't mind. Shall we go Archi?" He grinned widely at the nick name I had given him and strolled up to me and took my hand and kissed it "Of course! Let's go!"
