Chapter 1 - Unusual

(Aurora's Pov)

I wake up with a throbbing headache. That damn voice. I wish it would leave me alone. I get out of bed and the first thing I do is take painkillers. It was the first day of school......well, for me. I just moved to Britain after 15 years of living in America. I made sure I was up early so I had enough time to get ready. I got dressed and put my notebook in my bag. I pick up my bag and head downstairs. When I moved here, the neighbor was awfully skeptical about me. When I asked them what was wrong, the only thing they said to me was "Watch out in the night." I wish I knew what they meant but I don't. Although since I've been here, strange things have been happening. I remember the first night I was here. I saw a massive creature through the kitchen window. It looked bigger than a bear.......I wonder what it was? I grabbed a drink from the fridge and left the house. I didn't live far from the school so I walked. I plugged my earphones in and turned my music onto full. Not only could I not hear anyone but the voice would also be blocked out. I continue to walk for a couple minutes then I arrive at the school. I walk through the gates and immediately, all eyes are on me. I keep my head down and turn the music down.

Kill them.

There it goes again. I get to the front desk.

"Uh hi. I'm the new student." I say quietly.
"Hello, I'm Mrs Jones. Here's your timetable and a map in case you get lost." She says, handing over my things.
"Thank you." I say.

I walk around so I can get used to things. All around me was gossip. I couldn't hear them but then everyone stopped. What made them stop? I look up and see a tall figure right in front of me. I hear gasps around the hall. I go to move to the side but he mirrors my move.

"I'm sorry. I just need to get to my class." I say, looking down. 

This guy is really intimidating. He doesn't say a word but when I move to the other side, he doesn't move. I continue walking down the hall. What was that about? I find my class and wait till the bell rings. Everyone starts lining up for class and I see that guy is in my class. Are you kidding me?

Don't kill him.......he could be useful.

The only person it doesn't want me to kill? Fascinating. I get into class and take a seat in the back. A girl sits next to me and says

"Hi there! I'm Amy. You must be the new girl."
"Uh yeah, I am. I'm Aurora." I say quietly. 
"Well Aurora, it's nice to meet you. Everyone's talking about the encounter you had with my brother this morning." Amy said.

That was her brother? I never would've guessed.

"Yeah. I didn't mean to cause trouble." I say, looking down at the desk. 
"You didn't cause trouble. In fact, we were wondering if you wanted to hang with us during break?" She asks.

Do I wanna risk rumors going 'round?

"I wanna get used to the school just for the week. I hope that's okay." I say, lying.
"I can show you around!" She insists.

I'm not gonna get out of this, am I?

"I'm sure I can find my way around here." I say.
"C'mon, I'll show you around." She says.

Kill her

Oh my god! I really need to be alone.

"Okay. I'll let you show me around." I give in. 
"Good. I don't want you bumping into Chloe." Amy says.
"Who?" I ask.
"The school's biggest slut." She says.

I just nod. This could be a long day. 

"Good morning students. As you may know, we have a new student joining us. Could you please stand up and tell us a little bit about yourself." The teacher said.
