BETTYS POV

A few days have passed, and it was now the weekend. The Gang has created plans to hang out today, but I'm specifically excited to see Jughead. I've never felt this way towards him before. He was always just there, no more, no less. We are all going to be meeting at Archie's house, so we can chill out, do homework, and work on the murder mystery at stake. I have been getting ready all morning, packing my small, pink leather backpack, getting dressed in a comfy sweater, jeans, and donning one pair of ballet flats from my large collection. I let my hair fall in its natural waves, and do a natural makeup look. Suddenly, my phone beeps. It's a text from Veronica.

VERONICA: Hey! I'm outside :)

BETTY: Cool! Coming outside now!

I walk out my front door to see Veronica sitting in her mother's car, with her chauffeur holding the door wide open for me to jump on in. I run towards her and hop in the car, immediately starting to chat to V.

"Hey, so V. I've got something to tell you." I squeal.
"What?!" She exclaims, V was always one for gossip.
"So," I begin, "I think I might have an tiny crush on Jughead." I say, blushing.
"AWWWWW." Veronica cheers. "You guys would be totally cute together!"
"The thing is V, I don't think he likes me back." I murmur.
"Betty Cooper, I will make it my mission so that he likes you back." V says proudly, as the car makes a halt at the steps of Archie's home. We both get out, bags in tow.

JUGHEADS POV

Archie and I whip our heads around at the sound of knocking on the front door.
"I'll get it" Archie mutters, pausing the video game we were playing as he stands up from his beanbag. As the door opens downstairs I hear voices. It must be Betty and Veronica. And as I guessed, it was them. As they came through the threshold of Archie's bedroom, my eyes caught Betty's and it felt like I was looking into them for a million years on end. It ignited this fire in my belly. Betty and Archie sat down on the floor, where Veronica, being herself took to a chair.
"So," Betty announced, "I was thinking we should discuss the murder on our hands first."
"Great idea." I said dumbly, backing her. Betty had a way of turning me into a puddle of illiterate mush.
After spending a long while talking about who we could rule out, and new revelations, Veronica and Archie decided to head out to grab us some takeaways from Pop's, and Betty and I moved on to homework. I've been working on my novel as I've finished all the homework at hand. I write, 'the sun had gone down on another day in this mysterious town, but still, nothing was safe fo-' "Hey Juggie, can you help me with something?" Betty whispers at me. "Yeah, sure." I say, leaning over her shoulder to help her with her English homework. Being this close to her, feeling her breath on my cheek, makes me feel elated. Like everything is peaceful in the world, and I love it.

BETTYS POV

As Jughead leans over my shoulder, I have to fight the urge to just kiss him, then and there. If I did, it would ruin everything I have with him if he didn't feel the same. "So....do you get it now?" He says, turning to look at me. "What?" I yelp, realising that I had been too caught up in my own thoughts to realise that he was explaining it all to me. He chuckles. "You weren't paying attention, were you?" He laughs.
"No....." I say, sheepishly. "Well," He explains. "They basically just want you to write a statement about this character and provide a quote."
"UGH!!" I yell, falling back on the floor, staring up at Jug who was looking down at me. "I hate school sometimes!"
"I know, Betts, it does suck." Jughead mumbles, turning back to his work.
I then sit up as I hear the door open and Archie yell - "We're back!!" I glance at Jughead, he glances at me, and we scramble to get up off the floor, and then race down the stairs towards our food. We were starving. "Strawberry milkshake, cheeseburger, and small fries for you, Betty." Veronica says, passing over the doggie bag to me. "Coca-cola, poutine, and a double cheeseburger for Jughead." Archie says, handing it to Jug. "And a veggie burger, medium fries and a soda for me." Says Veronica, opening her bag as Archie pulls his out of the plastic bag.
We all climb up the stairs, and then onto the roof. We sit there silently, munching away at our lunch, looking out on the serene street below us. Riverdale has always put up this type of front. Serene, perfect, small, happy. But it wasn't all that. And as you probably know by now, something wicked this way comes.

A/N: whoop whoop!! new chapter!! I was meant to update earlier, but the ending of the chapter had to be changed as I felt some things developed too quickly. if you know what I mean ;);) anyways, hope you enjoyed, see you this time next week!! ✨
