My mom died a few weeks ago. She died on my birthday, and ever since, my birthday hasn't been the same. That night she made me cake for my birthday. A special homemade red velvet cake with frosting on top. She was a baker at a bakery named after her. Gretchen's Bakery. She won "The States Best Bakery" award 4 years in a row. And she always told me this: "Never stop trying to achieve you dreams."

Anyway, I went to go get in my bed at 10:47 P.M. Later that night, I heard her scream. I jumped out of my bed and ran to her room. All I saw was her lying on the floor with a knife stabbed in her stomach. She was screaming in pain and I was crying in terror. I used her phone from her dresser and called 911. I told them what had happened and cried more. The ambulance came 5 minutes later and took her to the hospital. They took me with them since it was late and they didn't want me home alone. Once we reached the hospital, they said for me to wait in the waiting room.

They came back ten minutes later and said she was gone. I was torn and heartbroken. I cried and they said that she said to tell me that she loves me. Now I am in an orphanage with 8 other girls and 6 other boys. My dad left my mom and me so I have no dad. My grandpa is sick with an illness and my grandma died 2 years ago. I have no one. And it's even harder being an only child.
