Electricity flickered overhead. The passengers knew, as soon as the lightning struck they knew. They weren't getting out of this. No one was.

She flipped on her phone, the signal was weak but it was enough. She had to tell him, he deserved to know.

She found his name and pressed the call button, praying for one last shred of good will.

Seven tones.

One pickup.

"Hey. Why'd you call me?"

"I need to tell you something. Now. I love you, I've been trying to talk myself out of it for months."

"Kaitlyn I-"

"No, I don't care. My plane is going down right now, and I needed you to know. I just needed you to know."

"What do you mean your planes going down Kait don't scare me like that."

"Jackson, I'm not gonna make it home."

"Tell me your fucking, joking you have to be. Please."

"I'm not joking. About any of it, I love you and I've wanted to tell you for so long but I thought I'd mess up."

"Your joking you ha-" voice breaking, "ve to be."

"Is it too late now to say sorry?" With a bitter laugh.

"I love you please your one of my best friends please."

She crudely chuckles, "good to know I was always friend zoned."

"Don't do that."

"It's way too late, I know it is. I love the way you never have to fix your hair, the way that you laugh at the ground, how you don't like your smile, how confused and stupid you make me act, everything. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry I-"

The phone lost signal, and she lost her way home.
