It was a quiet, rainy morning; the soft pitter-patter of the rain fell on the roof top in a steady beat, a cool, morning breeze seeping through their window and the dark clouds were turning the sky a dark grey color.
This was the perfect cuddling atmosphere anyone could ever wish for.
On their shared bed laid an odd pair; an ivory, telekinetic hedgehog from the future and a bioengineered, ebony ultimate lifeform, each holding onto the other in a warm embrace under the mess of pillows and blankets. The darker male stirred slightly, rubies fluttering open to the sight of his snow-furred lover, smiling at the image that greeted him; he could feel his heart melt at the peaceful features etched on the ivory male's face, feel the other's chest rise and fall steadily in an even rhythm, and his ears could pick up the sound of soft snoring coming from the other.
The crimson-streaked hedgehog tightened his embrace, holding his partner even closer and planting a chaste kiss on Silver's forehead, while his fingers played with the soft fur around the younger one's neck.
Shadow could feel his eyes drooping once more to join his precious lover in slumber when he felt movement; Silver was starting to wake up, and he wanted to be the first thing he sees when he opens those golden pools.
"Hnnnn.. morning Shadow" came the others sleepy voice. This made Shadow chuckle softly.
"Good morning to you too my Snowflake; had a nice sleep?"
"Y-yeah.. 'm still sleepy tho. I wanna keep cuddling with you" Silver replied as he buried his face on the patch of white fur on the ebony hedgehog's strong chest.
"Then cuddle with me; I don't want to leave this bed either"
The room was starting to get colder as the rain picked up; thunder could be heard overhead as the two occupants stayed in each others' arms, relishing in the warmth emitting from their partner.
Shadow's own chest began to vibrate as he purred in content; how long has it been since he got to spend quality time with Silver like this? Anyway, he was going to take advantage of this moment while he can; Chaos only knows when he'll get too busy again.
"Snowflake?"
That got the younger hedgehog's attention as his golden pairs connected with his crimson ones. "Hm? What is it?"
He kept his eyes on Silver, his gaze never leaving his form "I know I don't say this enough, but I love you"
His words caused the younger one's cheeks to flush a pink hue, and a shy smile made his already sweet face even sweeter "I know love."
No other words were spoken after this. They simply enjoyed each other's company and the sound of the rain beating on their roof top.
As stated; rainy mornings are the best time to cuddle with your loved one.
