I'm so sorry for the mess up ahead of time, but the Russian Yuri has 1 u and the Japanese Yuuri has 2 u. I'm working on fixing that.
In my house hold, a lot is expected of me. My father wants me to pursue becoming a lawyer, leaving no room for disapproval on my end. And my mother wants me to pursue dance and modeling.
My parents clearly don't get that to go after what they both want from me, will give me a hard time ahead. But I shall do as they say, and do my best to accomplish both, for the sake of not being yelled at.
I have no time for friends anymore, well like I actually ever had any. When I lived in Russia with my grandmother Lilia, I had an older friend named Seth, but he had to move right when we started to be friends.
I was only lived in Russia for a short time, because my mother and father were to busy to watch over a child like me. Even now, when I'm living with them, here in Hasetsu, I don't get to see them at all.
No matter, I can't go against what they say, for the fear they'd find out. I don't have time to do foolish things anyway because of my school work. But after school my mother makes me go to a dance studio in the area.
I now learn dance under a ballet teacher named Minako Okinawa. Or I call her Minako sensei, to show respect towards her. She says I don't have to be so formal, but I was taught to be like that.
Recently the studio hasn't been getting alot of students, so I get a lot of after school time with her, even though she leaves me alone a lot to help out another one of her students named Yuuri Katsuki.
I think he's an ice skater, a really good one I hear from Minako sensei. That's all she really talks about acually, even when he was younger. But I didn't really know him when he was younger, since I'm alot younger than him.
I'm 9, as of now and will be turning 10 in a few more months. Even at my age Mr. Yuuri Katsuki tells me I should try to ice skate, since I'm good at regular dance.
I even asked my mother since she would probally be more leaneate to the idea than my father, but my mother instantly refused and punished me for my 'foolish' behavior, and dumb question.
Over the weekend, when I got done with all of my work I headed to the studio to meet up with Miniko sensei. When I got there she seemed in a rush to leave with Mr. Yuuri Katsuki.
"Oh Suna dear, why not you come join us, we're going to ice castle to skate," Minako sensei told me.
"Yea, you should, uh, join us." Mr. Yuuri Katsuki offered.
I didn't say anything, I just stared at the ground, refusing myself to say my mother refused the idea and beat me for my question to go ice skating.
I pulled my sleeves down further, hiding my bruises on my arms. And stayed silent, and emotionless.
"We should get going before the sun starts to set," Minako sensei says to us.
She grabs my hand and starts to lead me to her car, opening the door to let me in. Mr. Yuuri Katsuki got in on the other side, and sat beside me.
"We'll be there in a few mins," she said.
I remained silent, and still emotionless. I didn't want to reveal what my mother has said or done, so I didn't trust my mouth with any words for the fear of saying the wrong thing.
To tell the truth I never really even said a word to Minako sensei or to Mr. Yuuri Katsuki. Except to tell them my name.
"I'm exited to finally skate again! How about you... Suna? Mr. Yuuri Katsuki said.
Silence.
"Well I hope you don't fall once you get on the ice." He continued.
Silence.
"Umm. So. How old are you?" He asked.
"...9..." I mumbled out. Almost a whisper. When I said that I seen Mr. Yuuri Katsuki's face burned red.
"Oh, so you're younger than me! You don't look all to young. "
Silence. Slowly I started to feel something nawing at me. A bad feeling. Would I get in trouble it my mother or father figured out I'm going against their will?
A face of distress gives way for a split second, no one catches the second of emotion. And no one catches on to the distress, and worry.
"Okay, we're here, and don't worry Yuuri I already asked Yuko if she could keep the rink open for only you to skate, hopefully you don't mind Suna joining us though," Minako sensei said, smiling towards me.
"It's fine, as long as there's not a big crowd." Mr. Yuuri Katsuki said. We all got out of the car and walked to the entrance of Ice Castle.
The feeling of worry and nervousness come back to me. Not about the fact that I'm going to be on ice, skating, which is something I've never done before, but the fact my mother refused to even hear out my question to go.
I knew if she found out I was even here, that i'd be punished for disobeying her. And the punishment for that would be far worse than a few bruises.
Minako sensei opened the door and held it open for me to go in. I hesitated for a moment so Mr. Yuuri Katsuki grabbed my hand and led me to the counter.
"Hey Yuko! Can I have my skates, and can you also get a pair for Suna too please!" Mr. Yuuri Katsuki said to the girl at the counter.
The girl behind the counter looked down at me and gave a big smile," Aww you're a cutie, are you and Yuuri a couple!"
Mr. Yuuri Katsuki started to blush madly at her statement and stuttered out, "n-no! She's one of Miniko's students okay!"
Ms. Yuko set two pairs of skates on the counter and Minako sensei handed me my pair, while Mr. Yuuri Katsuki grabbed his skates.
I still stayed silent, and emotionless. Ms. Yuko seemed a little disappointed at my attitude, but I paid no mind to her.
Mr. Yuuri Katsuki seemed really exited about skating and ran over to a bench to tie up the laces of his skates. After he tied his up, he put the guards on and walked heavily over to me.
He put on the skates for me, and laces them up too. I still felt scared. But a voice in my head was saying, they don't have to know.
"Okay Suna! Let's go, I'll show you the way to the ice, and I'll even show you how to skate, and then maybe you could even get really good at skating and go to competitions! Wouldn't that be fun!" Mr. Yuuri Katsuki said, grabbing my hand and dragging me along.
I was scared I would loose my balance once I stood up but it turns out that keeping your balance was easy. Or at least for me. I kept up with Mr. Yuuri Katsuki. He pushed open a door to be exposed to a cold breeze.
That breeze. I liked it, the smell of ice, and of the cold. It was new to me. But I liked it. Mr. Yuuri Katsuki lead me to the opening and looked over at me with a smile on his face.
" I'll of coutse go skate a routine by myself, and I heard from Minako that you're a visual learner! So that means you can master the basics really easily!"
I nodded my head and waited for Mr. Yuuri Katsuki to take off his blade guards and get on the ice.
Instantly I felt his attitude calm, and become more professional. I waited, for him to start. Minako sensei started the music, and the boy on the ice started his routine.
He was effortlessly gliding on the ice, like an angle. I was mesmerized by him. I watched his feet, to learn how he skated so perfectly. His step sequence was inspirational and the music suited him.
The way he angles the skates, the way his body moved, his face. It was perfect. He did some kind of jump, I wasn't sure which one, since this was my first time seeing ice skating.
He tried another but fell. I see why too. Compared to the other jump, on this one he seemed to spin too much, like he over rotated. From watching him, I learned what not to do and what to do.
He quickly finished his skate, and went over to the entrance to talk to me.
"I'm sorry I fell a few times, but... Would you like to try?" Mr. Yuuri Katsuki asked.
I nodded my head, still being silent. I took off the skate guards, and stepped onto the ice. For a second, I became unsteady, but the much taller Mr. Yuuri Katsuki came beside me to support my balance.
I pushed him off, and kicked forward as Mr. Yuuri Katsuki had once done. I was only mimicking his movements. I just wasn't ready to do his routine.
I slowly skated around the rink, careful not to fall for my mother or father would find out I'm here if I came home with bruises besides,m the ones they gave me.
I slowly started to gain speed, and momentum, and actually cracked a smile! I was starting to have fun.
"There you go Suna! Now if I could ask, will you try and do one of your ballet dances on the ice. I promise it's not much different, but I'm sure at your skill you can figure out when to take extra steps to make sure not to fall!" Minako sensei said to me.
