This war has two sides, but how do you know you are on the right side, how do you know your side is truly the good side. Your mother was Leia's closest friend and your father was a pilot, your parents died when you were about 16 years old. Because of your mothers status you weren't expected of much in the resistance, you mostly kept to yourself and didn't have any specific job, Leia knew you never liked being involved in attacks, you mostly helped in the med bay when they were low on nurses or helped in communications but only when Leia really needed you.
You spent most of your free time in your room, you had access to everything with the resistance, you could get any training you wanted or just train with the others for exercise but you preferred your room and the comfort of your bed and your books. You were well liked amongst all in the resistance, some people would make comments about how you should be helping more and doing more instead of getting a free ride but Leia would quickly shut them up.
Although you got along well with others you found a strange comfort among the droids, you had read many books on how to care for them and repair them which was another thing you helped the resistance with, you had the knowledge to potentially help them with weapons and ships too but you preferred fixing droids and not getting too involved in the war.
One of the things that confused you most about the war and made you even more unsure about it was when you found out Leia's own son had left , Ben was someone you hadn't known well but since you both grew up in the resistance you had seen each other around. When you found out he was now leading the first order you started questioning everything you knew. How someone you saw almost on a daily basis but never really talked to could be sent away for Jedi training and never come back, how he could go off to fight the very thing he was raised in.
Tonight was one of those nights when you laid awake in your bed, unable to focus on the pages of a book, consumed by your thoughts. Often at night you laid awake, it felt as even though it was so quiet, your mind was the loudest at night. This led to you going for walks around the planet or base you were on, usually getting a droid to accompany you.
Tonight's droid of choice happened to be one of your favourites, C-3PO. You really enjoyed C-3PO's company when you wanted someone to talk to, he wasn't great when you wanted silence because he never shuts up. C-3PO is very smart just like you and he speaks English which makes late night talks easier because you don't have to think to translate, he gives helpful advice but can be a little judgmental sometimes.
C-3PO's advice for tonight was something he has said before, "Y/N I suggest you make more friends, you spend a lot of time with droids and it would be good for you to have contact with other people". After thinking for a second you jokingly replied "oh C-3PO are you getting sick of me already?". He didn't pick up on this humor right away "oh, no Y/N never! You get tired of me much faster than I ever will of you." He paused "I just think it would be good for you to live more and experience more and you won't get that from befriending every droid you meet" you laughed at the thought but couldn't deny that you enjoyed the company of droids probably too much.
You spent about an hour roaming the base with C-3PO and went back to your room it was late in the night, almost considered morning. Most people thought you were just lazy for sleeping in, because nobody knew you stayed up so late, except the droids you walked with and the few people working late or on guard that you ran into. You didn't mind though, you wished you got as much sleep as people thought but you were almost always tired, under eye bags were your signature look as you weren't really one for makeup or dressing up. Leggings were a permanent staple in your wardrobe along with whatever uniform you were required to wear that day. You slowly drifted to sleep thinking over C-3PO's earlier advice.
