Prologue

"Please I'm not insane!" I screamed while slamming against the sleek metal door with all my strength. They pushed me in and as they struggled to push it closed. I could hear them moving the blood rusted lock into place. I could see their twisted smiles beyond the metal meshed window, "Why doesn't anyone believe me?!" I screamed.

An eerie voice crept up behind me, it moved swiftly through the bone chilling air, "Oh sweetheart they do believe you...we believe you," the woman whispered. She was towering over me, growing ever so taller with teeth sharpened to a needle like point and eyes slit from the top of her eye socket to the bottom, "There's no point in screaming...sweetheart...they can't hear you."

My feet were becoming consumed by the seamless scratched floors, the walls were getting more and more farther apart, chains from behind me wrapped around my arms and tied me down. I tried to get free but the chains wouldn't let loose. The woman crept closer and closer and whispered into my ear, "It's maddening being able to get out but never being able to be free," she held up the rusted key to the door. 

"Please!," I screamed trying to move towards the key but my feet were not moving and the chains were holding me back.

She started to laugh," Oh...sweetheart...don't even try. There's no point, those chains are the chains of sanity and your feet are anchored into responsibility.
