Chapter 1: Awakening

I was on a field trip with my history class to a museum, one that I couldn't have even gone on if I hadn't gotten that Dojo to hire me as a cleaner part time, it doesn't pay much but he lets me sit in on the classes so I know a bit about how to protect myself. We were walking through the entrance to the museum when I heard it, well not exactly heard but it was like something was calling out to me from deeper inside the museum, I ignored it thinking it was nothing. As the class was walking deeper into the museum the feeling got stronger and stronger, until I had to actually force myself not to run ahead of the class to find it. As we were passing a case of artifacts that the researchers didn't know what civilization they were from I heard a rattle inside the case. I stopped and turned to look into the case, it had medallions and daggers that were seemingly made of stone but were perfectly preserved with no chipping or wear on them.

'Wow,' I thought, 'how did they get these here from so long ago with what looks like no wear and tear at all?'

In the case was a sapphire blue dagger with a wickedly sharp looking edge, a black crossguard that looked like intertwined snakes, and a bone like handle wrapped in black leather. Next to it on a stand was an identical dagger but with an emerald green blade, red crossguard that looked like birds of some sort - phoenixes maybe? - and a handle that looked like wood wrapped in black leather. A matched set of daggers along with matching sheaths in the same colour leather that was on the handle of the respective knives. Along with those daggers, on the shelf above them was a pair of medallions, one sapphire blue and the other emerald green, both perfectly round with strange symbols carved into them, their symbols looked to be opposites of eachother but I couldn't tell without getting closer to them and looking.

I was just moving on from the shelf with the medallions when the blue one rattled. With nothing but the shelf touching it, the blue medallion shook on its stand, and that was when I remembered the calling that I had felt earlier, it was still there but it wasn't pulling me forward anymore. It was calling to me from the blue medallion, which I thought was strange because it's a piece of rock carved to look cool so how could it be calling me? Focusing on trying to figure out why and more importantly how this cool looking rock was calling me, I unknowingly had reached up and opened the cabinet and began reaching for the blue medallion. As my hand was closing around it I snapped back into paying attention enough to register the pain that came with getting the palm of your hand shredded. While my mind was distracted by the immense pain in my left hand, my right hand took that opportunity to reach out and grab the sapphire dagger by the hilt and lift it out of the case. As soon as my hand was closed around the hilt of the dagger the carved snakes came alive and to sink their fangs into my hand, effectively trapping my hand around the hilt. I didn't even notice this until after it had happened because my attention was distracted by my left hand glowing beautiful two toned bluish red colour, the two lights not mixing into purple but staying separate colours. It looked like the red light was coming from inside the medallion and the blue light from the medallion itself, though it was turning a darker blue instead of the almost crystal clear blue it had been. It took me a moment to realize that it was filling with some liquid, and the only liquid that was available to it at that moment was my blood. That revelation caused me to flip out a little bit because something that I didn't know what it was, was taking my blood. The distraction of that was enough for me to realize that my other hand had the dagger in it and was also being drained of blood as the blade was growing a darker blue just like the medallion.

After a few moments of that there was a large flash of light and a soreness spreading through my body when I heard a voice in my head. The voice was two toned, almost like 2 people with very similar voices speaking at once. "The bonding is complete, your body and magic have accepted us. Grasp the green pair." I didn't know who or what it was that I heard but I figured that if it was in my head it couldn't be too bad. I grabbed the blue sheath and put the dagger in that, then I picked up the green dagger and sheathed it before picking up the green medallion, careful this time as to not grab it with the palm of my hand.

After I had them in my hands there was a flash of blue light, a loud bang, and then I knew nothing but the black of unconsciousness.

A/N: 884 words for the first chapter, I think that's pretty good for me. This idea actually came to me in my pottery and sculpture class, we were doing a stone carving when my piece broke and I ended up with a slightly round medallion like shape. Then I remembered a few HP fics that I read that had blood magic ( I for some reason keep trying to put blook instead of blood lol) then I decided to combine that idea with a creature fic as I've been reading a lot of those recently, then along with those two ideas I thought it would be interesting to combine both of those with a twin fic to round it out and give me a good way to introduce the blood magic and creature parts of the story. Thanks for reading, and if you did read the entire author's note you deserve a cookie lol cya!
