Iron and Silver (A Poem)

The most stable elements

Appear in the middle of the table

Between iron and silver

With you I'm iron and I'm silver

You're my glitter and my gold

And if I were to see you forever

I'd remember you today

We'd sit back

Close our eyes

And fade into the quiet of the river

I can hear the caterpillar

Whispering through the chrysalis

As the water wraps us

In it's cold and icy embrace

Then when we hatch

And we'll follow our own nature

You won't be able to live with me

But can't live without

Because to love is to consume

So I'll consumed your heart

And you'll be with me forever

Staring at the afterimages

Of places you haven't been in years

One only sees what one can observe

But can only observe

What's in the mind already

So you are all I see

I'm blinded to the world

You have brought me colour

To this cold and lifeless heart

And although I should've left

I couldn't leave without you

So you can keep your heart

Consume mine instead.
