The glint of the green eye stared at the black cat. The one white splotch upon his chest, the cat leaped onto the gray cat, landing squarely on his shoulders.
"You won, Dos!" The gray cat's white chin barely moved as he spoke.
"Of course I did, Uno. I'm, like, number one at this game" Dos proudly meowed, his mew full of pride.
Dos and Uno were brothers by blood, spirit, and friendship. They had gone through all times with each other since they have never been separated. Their Double-paws had tried to when they were separating the litter. Dos and Uno had to fight for each other. And they had won.
Dos looked through the barren moor, they had stopped to rest. Even though it's been moons and moons, they had kept going in a straight line, stopping only to rest. Their pace had led them through at least four Black-paths from a Double-paw nest that was no longer in sight.
"I think we should rest through the night and then keep going." Uno mewed, his low deep rumble echoing.
"Why do we keep going? We left at least four moons ago! The Double-paws would never find us!" Dos urged. His brother always liked to walk, the gray cat loved to explore.
"They could have found traces! Plus, the farther, the better!" His green eyes had a spark of anger, so Dos didn't argue further.
Curling up beside his brother, his blue eyes were heavy. The rumbling of Uno, Dos fell asleep quickly.
Something nudged him, the hissing breath of Dos' brother went right into his ear.
"Get up." Uno hissed.
"Alright, alright! I guess I should see five minutes turns into the whole day, but still!" Dos grumbled as he got up.
"I already hunted us four squirrels. That way we should be able to keep our strength up." Uno yawned.
Dos rushed over to his two squirrels and started to gulp one down. He thanked Uno then ate the other one. They didn't eat their last meal of the day yesterday.
Once they both finished the sun-rise meal, they set off. The moor started to grow more and more trees, and soon the two toms faced a forest. They set off into its great depths.
Dos tripped and stumbled over roots but Uno kept a steady pace, wandering in a straight line. The gray cat never stumbled once.
The forest opened to some Double-paw nest. It had a wall that wasn't very high, it also and spacing in it. Uno jumped over the wall while Dos decided to see what's ahead.
"Is it safe?" He asked.
"Yes." Uno meowed curtly.
"Are you sure?"
"No other creatures around."
"What about that big Double-paw nest?"
"That's secured."
"I believe you." With a heave of effort, Dos clambered over the wall.
They scanned the Double-paw territory. All they saw was a big plain field with the long wooden wall around it. They then saw a huge Double-paw nest and a couple of other nests that were smaller by a lot. Uno stalked over to the smallest one.
"There's rabbits inside." His low voice rumbled.
"What?" Dos asked as he rushed after his brother.
Indeed, there were the delicious creatures inside the nest. Hay lined the rabbit nest. Two circular objects filled with something that looked like seeds with two carrots and water. Encasing them was a metal wall with holes in it.
"How do we get them?" Dos asked, his black fur rippled with frustration.
Uno was biting around the metal wall. The gray tom worked carefully, bu no success when with it. He tried to scratch it, but still, no rabbits were caught. Finally, they gave up and trekked towards the chicken nests.
They were clucking around and fluttering to seemingly out of reach places. Dos struck forward and scared them, running after them and slammed his claws down upon their thin neck.
"Food for tonight, huh?" Dos jumped excitedly, then the cream-colored she-cat struck at his eyes.
