"Emma! Come down for dinner" says mom. I finish the last page of chapter 38 and put down my book. While mom is screaming my name I take my time as I shut off my light and open the door.
"So how was school Emma? Did you finish your homework?" I wipe the grilled cheese off of my face and avoid the small talk as much as I can,
"Ya" I say as I shove the rest of my food down my mouth. Mom gets the hint that I'm not in the mood to talk and goes back to eating.
As I'm finishing up I feel a drop form on my head. Then another one, then a final, but large one. I look up and there is Elijah standing on his chair holding his tomato soup over my head.
"ELI!!!!!!!!" I scream Elijah's face turns red from laughing so hard. Little brothers are the worst. They're icky, grimy, sticky, gooey, and they smell, really bad. I run up to my room not even caring about the mess I left behind.
Hours pass and While I'm sitting in my room trying to figure out my insanely hard math homework, I hear a small tap on my door and Elijah walks in with red puffy eyes like he has been crying.
"I'm sorry" he says with the saddest puppy dog face.
"It's allright". I lift him up and spin him around like he is the only person I will ever need. For now.
