I woke up to my alarm going off. As I was stretching I thought how much of a good day today is supposed to be. Summer and I are supposed to be going shopping after classes today. Coastal Carolina University is having a dance. What girl doesn't like dances, or shopping for dresses for that matter?

I got out of bed and walked to the bathroom. As I looked at myself in the mirror I kinda giggled. Summer and I stayed up so late last night studying for our biology test we have for Mr. O'Dell today. As I'm brushing my teeth I hear my phone gone off saying I have a text. I look at it and it's Summer.

"Are you almost ready? I'm outside your house with coffee waiting for you."

I smiled and texted back, "Just woke up. Didn't get any sleep. Come up to my room and wait for me."

I was doing my make up when I heard Summer walk in. We've been friends long enough she doesn't even knock anymore. She just walks in like it's her house. In reality it pretty much is. She stays here most nights cause she can't stand being around her parents for to long. The day I moved out her and I decided we were gonna get a place together. For some reason she just never got around to packing her stuff and moving in.

"You know, it's been long enough. When are you ever gonna pack your shit and move in?" I asked her while I was finishing my make up.

Summer just looked at me for a while. "I don't have an excuse. I'm just lazy and it's to much stuff for me to move. I've been thinking about doing it this weekend."

I got excited. "Yes finally. If you need help let me know. I'll obviously help but I'll also get my brother to help too. We're going to need a guy to help with the heavy lifting and shit." I said as I nudged her.

As soon as I mentioned my brother Summers eyes lit up. Everyone know that she's had a crush on my big brother since her and I first met.

"Oh my goodness Summer. Cash it 30 years old. Get over it!" I said with a smile.

Summer was one of those smart girls who skipped grades, so she's 20 years old. Three years younger than me.  Summer just looked at me and smiled.

"Okay," she said changing the subject. "Are you ready yet? I don't want to be late."

                                                                       ***

Biology with Mr. O'Dell was our first class today. Thankfully because I don't want to forget anything that we studied today. I'm really good with biology, probably best in the class, but you can never be to sure with a test.

"Good morning class," Mr. O'Dell began. "So not only do we have a test today but we also have a new student joining us today. His name is Ethan Tompson and he just moved to town so be nice to him." he said with a wink.

I looked over at Ethan and oh my goodness. He was this beautiful tall muscular guy with medium length hair and these beautiful baby blue eyes. He was totally fucking hot. But seeing all the girls swoon over him made me want to turn away. That's just unattractive.

When Mr. O'Dell was passing out the test I started to get so excited. I loved biology so much I loved it when we had tests. Plus I was usually the first one done so I can work on other assignments while everyone else is taking their tests. I looked over at Summer to see if she seemed worried and she just smiled. It's safe to say she feels just as confident about this test as I do.

Like always I finished the test before everyone else did. I decided to work on some of my math homework. I looked around the room to see if anyone else was done with their test when I noticed that Ethan was looking at me. Well, he wasn't looking. It was more like he was just staring at me. It was really awkward and I instantly looked away. If there is one thing I can't stand it's when people stare at me.

As everyone started to bring their tests up to Mr. O'Dell I tried not to look back at Ethan to see if he was still starting at me. Part of me knew that he was cause I could feel his eyes burning into me. Thankfully class was just about over.

Once everyone turned their tests in Mr. O'Dell dismissed the class.

"Valerie and Ethan, please stay for a little bit I'd like to talk to you." Mr. O'Dell said before we left. I looked at Summer and she shrugged her shoulders. She seemed to be just as clueless as I was.

"Valerie, you're still signed up for the biology tutoring program for extra credit. I noticed Mr. Tompson here didn't bother to answer any question on his test so I'm going to need you to be his tutor for biology until I notice that his grades are picking up, okay? You start today after school." he said as he handed me Ethan's test.

My eyes got big "Mr. O'Dell is there any way we can start this tomorrow? I have plans after school. Me and Summer are supposed to go shopping for dresses for the dance this weekend." I said in an annoyed voice.

Mr. O'Dell looked from me to Ethan and then back to me like he was almost considering it. Part of me got my hopes up. Mr. O'Dell took a deep breath. "No, I'm sorry Valerie. I'd like you to start this as soon as possible. We need to get him back on track or he's going to have to drop this biology class." he said as he sat back down.

I looked at Ethan and gave him the stank eye. The last thing I wanted to do is tutor some asshole that doesn't know when to stop looking at a girl. "Okay Mr. O'Dell, no problem." I said and then walked out of the classroom.

Ethan followed behind me. "So, when do you want to do this thing?" he said with his stupid goofy grin.

I stopped walking, turned around, and looked at him. "Look here Ethan  I personally don't WANT to do this. Like you heard me say I had plans and you seem to be ruining them. I'm only doing this because I forgot I signed up for that stupid extra credit thing. There is a coffee shop called Boardwalk Coffee House. Meet me there at 4pm and we'll start this little stupid tutor thing." I said as I turned back around and started walking towards Summer again.

"Hey look Valerie. I didn't ask for this," he said as he walked beside me, "the last thing I want to do is ruin your plans. Why don't we just go after, or tomorrow. Mr. O'Dell doesn't need to know that we didn't do the tutoring today. We can just start tomorrow." he said as he put his hand on my shoulder to get me to stop walking.

I stopped walking and looked at him. "No, I told Mr. O'Dell that we'll do it today so we're going to do it today. How does 8:30pm sound? Dress shopping shouldn't take that long I just can't go out to eat after." I said as I looked over at Summer and noticed her watching us.

"Yeah, Ethan said. 8:30 sounds good. I'll see you then." he said and then walked away.

I was still stuck in my tracks shocked. I was a total bitch to him and he was still so nice to me. That's really weird. That's when I noticed that Summer was standing by my side. "Woah dude, what happened?" she asked full of curiosity.

I just shook my head. "Remember at the beginning of the year how I signed up for that tutoring program for biology?" I asked as I looked over at her. She shook her head yes.

"Well, I guess Ethan is behind on his biology so Mr. O'Dell wants me to tutor Ethan, starting fucking today. So we can't have dinner after we shop for dresses. I have to meet him at the Boardwalk Coffee House at 8:30." I said with a sad face.

Summers face lit up. "Oh my gosh this is amazing. You're going to have to tell me all about it tomorrow." she said as she looped her arms in mine as we walked to our next class.
