Chris sat on a large branch and just looked at the kid as the rest walked away to find the long branches.

Chris looked back at Gordie making everyone else look too, "Gordie?"

"Why did you have to die?" Gordie asked looking at Ray Brower. Chris, Kaitlyn, and Ella all knew he wasn't talking about Ray, but his brother.

"What's the matter with Gordie?" Vern asked.

"Nothing," Chris replied. "Why don't you guys just go over there and look for some branches, okay?"

"Okay," Teddy replied. And everyone except for Chris left Gordie alone.

"I'm worried about Gordie," Ella said to her best friend.

Kaitlyn nodded sadly, "me too, girl."

Meanwhile, "Why did he have to die, Chris?" Gordie asked. "Why did Denny have to die? Why?"

"I don't know," Chris answered.

"It should have been me," Gordie whispered.

"Don't say that," Chris replied.

"It should have been me," Gordie repeated.

"Don't say that, man," Chris said watching him.

"I'm no good, my dad said it. I'm no good." Gordie said.

"He doesn't know," Chris responded.

"He hates me," Gordie whispered.

"He doesn't hate you," Chris replied.

"He hates me!" Gordie said, crying.

"No!" Chris said. "He just doesn't know you."

"He hates me," Gordie repeated. "My dad hates me. He hates me. I'm no good."

Chris put his arm around Gordie as he sobbed.

Gordie stopped crying and wiped his face, "guess I'd have to be pretty hard up, huh?"

Chris chuckled, "yeah."

Kaitlyn looked up, "Oh my god."

"What the fuck do you know about this?" Ace asked walking up.

"Son of a bitch! My little brother!" Eyeball said.

Kaitlyn and Ella stood next to the boys.

"You wasn't planning on taking the body from us, was you, boys? And girls?" Ace asked.

"You get away, man. We found him. We got dibs." Chris said as he laced his hand with Kaitlyns.

"Oh, we better stars running, Eyeball. They got dibs," Ace said.

"We earned him, man. You guys came in a car. That's not fair. He's ours." Chris said.

"That's not fair, he's ours." Eyeball mimicked. "Well, not anymore."
