josh opened his eyes to see the sun threatening to rise. he hated when this happened. the only thing he hated more than that was the fact that the sun rising is inevitable. it just meant another day of nothing; another day of waiting for the day to end. every one of his 11:11 wishes was for today to end and tomorrow to not begin.
after getting ready for another monotonous school day, he caught himself in a mirror. he stared at his own tired eyes staring back at him and sarcastically said to his reflection, "today sure will be exciting." he then rolled his eyes and walked out of his house and to school, which was just a couple blocks away.
after sitting in his desk surrounded by the very few faces he was tired of for about five to ten minutes, the teacher walked in with a shy boy following closely behind. the teacher then cleared his throat to get the attention of his students, which was easy to do considering there was only ten. he then announced, "this here is your new class mate," gesturing to the shy boy. "would you mind introducing yourself?" he added, now looking at the boy who looked like a deer in headlights.
"i-i'm- my n-name is um t-tyler. tyler j-joseph." he said quietly. after a short pause, the teacher assigned the boy named tyler to a seat in front of josh. josh took this opportunity to introduce himself to the rather interesting looking and ~to be honest~ pretty cute tyler joseph. he tapped on tyler's shoulder and when when he turned around, josh's breath was taken away. he tried to speak but all he could utter out was "um.. hi." and he instantly regretted waking up that day.
that regret disappeared when tyler said, "u-um. hi. m-my name's tyler. w-w-wait you a-already knew th-that s-sorry i'm stupid." he looked down at that last part with eyes getting glossy. he quickly looked up again and said, "what's y-your name?" hearing the pretty boy saying call himself nearly broke. "hey! you aren't stupid! don't you ever call yourself that again!" josh nearly yelled. they both heard a harsh "sh!" from their teacher.
what had come over him? he calmed down and spoke again. "sorry i don't know what that-" he paused. "joshua. joshua dun. call me josh, though." tyler simply smiled. "well, joshua dun," he said, pausing to pull out a piece of paper and a pencil and began writing. "since i'm new and i don't have any friends," he continued while finishing writing down a phone number and sticking his hand signaling josh to take it, "you should text me, maybe?"
josh was so surprised by tyler's sudden confidence he just sat there looking at the piece of paper in tyler's hand. tyler's face sunk. "o-oh. i'm- i'm sorry. th-that seemed w-weird," he said, hand dropping. josh quickly took the paper and said "n-no. not at all."
at that, tyler's face lifted once again. "th-thank you, j-josh." the bell then rang. tyler faced to the front of the class and didn't look back for the rest of the period. when the bell for the end of the period rang, tyler quickly stumbled out of the room and, before josh could stop him to talk, he disappeared in the crowd of familiar faces. josh didn't see the cute tyler for the rest of the day.
when school was over and josh returned home, he decided to text tyler later that night; he didn't want to seem desperate.
