Eira, the most peaceful place. No one argued or fought and we all lived in together in the harmony, united by a community of snow and ice. My parents, King Aspen and Queen Alba, have kept Eira an equal place for everyone. I was next to the throne. I was going to be queen once I married Kari. So...I'm just not so sure what went wrong.

"Azalea, Azalea, wake up!" I force open my eyes to meet with my mother. Her face is whiter than usual, her eyes dull yet frantic. "We have to go."
"Mother?" I clutch her arms as she drags me out of bed, tossing me a cloak. "What's going on?"
The screams of my people and the shots that fired in the air alerted me as I rise from the comfort of my bed.
"They are attacking our people, trying to find inhumans." She wraps the cloak around me. "You must go, Azalea. I will not have this life for you." Tears well up in my eyes.
"Mother, you...you can't just tell me to leave. You can't." Realization hit and although deep down I knew the answer, I had to ask. "Mom, where is Kari? I will not go without him."
Her eyes are sad now, more than before as she registers my question.
"No," I feel a huge lump form in my throat. "He didn't."
"He did it, protecting you. They murdered him when he refused to give the royal family's whereabouts. He did it protecting you." I try to gulp down the huge lump in my throat but it won't go away. Kari is dead because of me. I killed Kari.
"Mother, how did we let this happen?" I half whisper, fresh tears as cold as dry ice falling down my frosty cheeks. She only shakes her head, her hands pushing my hair back and resting on my neck.
"You must go. I will feel like I have failed myself if I let them capture you because of my mistakes." I try to protest but she shakes her head again. "Do not protest, Azalea. Please, take Frost and run far, far away from here." I nod as tears leave my eyes and choked sounds leave my lips.
...
"Okay, Frost." I climb on the back of our large, snow white family wolf who looks at me with bright blue eyes. He has taken me many places before. I hope he can take me to safety now. "We have to get away from bad people. Please, hurry." I throw on the hood of the navy cloak.
"Princess Azalea of Eira," My breath catches in my throat as I hear the soldiers, who have painted my snow kingdom red in the name of Castilla, call upon my name. "Stop where you are, right now."
Frost turns to me as if to ask what to do. I decide at this moment, I will not even turn back but I will run with everything in me.
"Go," I whisper to the only thing left connecting me to Eira. Frost howls before growling and picking up speed as he rushes through the snow.
I can hear them behind me as they attempt to capture me but I still do not dare to look back. I don't want to look back. I hear a gun shot in the air and Frost howl in pain as he slows his pace.
"No!" I scream as bright red blood begins to coat his white fur. "Come on, baby. Please," I say to him, hoping in a selfish thought he will keep moving through his immense pain.
I gasp when I feel something enter my back. I didn't hear a gun, I didn't know it was coming. I only can see my vision blurring with black dots and going from sharp to clouded. I hear a thud in the snow and it takes me a minute to realize it is my own body, lying on it's side. Frost is still running but the soldiers shoot at him three times before he lies on the ground too, his body first twitching before it stops moving all together. I reach my hand out toward him before I feel someone grab it.
I see brown, evil eyes through a clear eye mask before I pass out.
