Birdie?

Bird woke up with a start, gasping. She glanced around her, wide eyed. "I-I'm alive??" She asked, stuttering to herself. She realized that she was on a beach. It was a secluded part. A tall ledge loomed above her, host to a big cluster of trees and vines. Bird couldn't remember anything but her name, and the reason she died. "I thought I drowned in a Tsunami..." she said to herself. Before she could think about why she was here, a voice spoke up. "Hello?" Someone asked. Bird looked around again, this time glancing behind her. She jumped when she saw a boy standing behind her with his hand half-extended. "Are you... okay?" He asked hesitantly. Bird looked down at her clothes, noticing that they were covered in sand. She ran her fingers through her hair. It felt damp, a bit tangly, and also covered in sand. "I don't know." Bird replied, gazing in his eyes. He studied her as if he had seen her before, but didn't remember who she was. "Why do you look so... uh.. sandy?" He asked. "I don't know that either." She replied. "I kind of... woke up like this." Bird added.
"My name is Liam." He said. "Bird." She replied. "Where?" He asked, glancing around . "No," Bird said firmly. "I'm Bird." She corrected him. "Oh," he said sheepishly. "Nice to meet you." He walked forward, arm outstretched. "Let me help you up." He said. "Thanks." Bird said, taking his hand. She stood up, and they walked up the small slope, and into the cluster of trees. A few of these things seemed familiar, but Bird couldn't put her finger on it. For some reason, she remembered the nickname 'Birdie' but Bird didn't know who had given her that name. The voice that spoke it in her mind, however, was a girl's voice. She had never seen this girl, but she remembered that voice. Her bare feet pressed softly against the concrete as they walked along a small path through the trees.
