It has been know that our souls travel, whether it is alone or in a pair. People who enter our lives, even if it is just for a short amount of time, aren't here by coincident. They are here with a reason. They either make us better or they ruin us, either way they are here to change us. But then there are others who complete us. You can even say they are a part of you. They can be your parents, siblings, best friends or your first love. You don't know them, but really they have been with you since the beginning. Now let's go back in time a little. I think one of the greatest love stories begins in 1942.

''C'mon smile'' he said while trying to fake one himself. His grey eyes looked into mine, they were filed with sadness and regret, and it was like he was cursing himself for not spending every single second of his day with me. I looked away.'' I do not have a reason to smile...'' a tear rolled down my cheek and freely dropped to the ground <<so strong yet so quiet<< I thought. '' I will slay all just to come back into your arms'' he held my chin and turned my face so I was now staring in his grey diamonds again.'' I will come back'' I smiled. ''AHA'' he made a funny expression. ''There it is... Have I ever told you that I fell in love with your smile before I fell in love with you whole .It was that day at the market, you were wearing that red dress with roses, you looked otherworldly .'' He then looked at the sky and smiled. ''Oh darling I remember'' I said and kissed him, it was too short but the sirens went off announcing it was time for him to go. We hugged for the last time. ''Promise me you will come back.'' he looked at me and said '' If I could choose I wouldn't ever leave your arms in the first place.'' He disappeared into the crowd. As I was waving goodbye to him he yelled << I SWEAR, RIVER... I DO<<. That was the last River heard from Blake until one evening.
2 months late:

''River, there are some lads downstairs that want to speak with you'' my mother came rushing into my room. '' At seven in the evening, are they crazy.'' I stood up and slowly made my way downstairs. There they were, pale-faced, maybe even sad, three boys with uniforms that made them look older that they were. I sat down on the sofa and finally said ''Good evening. How may I help you, gentlemen ?'' I raised my brow in a questionable matter. The smallest and the slimmest of them all stepped out of their short line they stood in, he took off his hat and moved it to his heart. '' You're miss Black right.'' He asked politely. ''Yes, that would be me.'' He that took a step closer. '' Then Blake Black would be your husband, am I correct ma'am'' My heart skipped a bit. '' With all pleasure, yes. '' His face darkened. '' Ma'am, he fell yesterday.'' I heard my mother scream, as I realize what he meant. I started crying. I stood there, hands by my hips, blanked faced. My mother came to hug me. The boy who spoke gave her a piece of paper, torn and muddy. A week later we buried an empty coffin and all I was left with was a piece of paper that wrote '' I SWEAR RIVER... I DO''.
.............................

Yes, soulmates. However, the saddest, most awful truth is, that we do not always end up with them. But for those two souls in particular, the chase for love only begun. And while the images in the mirror may change, souls do not.
