I arrived to 155 Burke lane at 7:10, Being fashionably late was my thing. I walked up the steps in black combat boots and a bad attitude. The only difference between the too were my boots were drenched from the rain. Besides that, i felt they compared to black. My dark attitude matches my boots. I didn't plan it, but that is the best things about fait. The way you dont expect what is coming.
It was a decent sized dark brick house with a chandelier shining over the doorway, and a long, white carpeted, curved, staircase that was noticeable from the door. It smelled of cinnamon and peppermint, but when the door was opened and i was greeted by the not so bad boy himself, a whiff of smoke was all that touched my senses.
Liam walked inside. "Shut the door behind you." He ordered.
I slammed it.
"Is anyone home?" I asked peering around the corner into the dark home.
"No. My mom and step dad work late."
"Oh."
I sat on the stiff but beautiful couch awkwardly not knowing what to say or do.
Finally Liam broke the awkward silence.
" Okay let's finish this project so you can leave." That was mean, and i had no reason to want him to like me so i told him.
"If you want this project to be good. Dont be rude, treat me with respect."
He lifted an eyebrow and walked away.
God please help us finish this project i we can go home.
Liam walked into the living room with a binder full of notes and instructions.
I guess this project is actually happening huh.
Im just gonna have to suck it up and finish it.
He explained what to do in his deep bad boy voice. Im getting mixed signals.
"Alright we have been working on this for two hours and got barley anything done."
" I have to leave." I told him, annoyed that we were not getting anything done.
"Same time tomorrow?"he questioned in a sweet voice.
Mixed signals.
"I guess."
I wrote my phone number on a paper and handed it to him hesitantly.
"Bye." I walked out the front door.
Someone please tell me why i put a smiley face at the end of my number. I'm not happy right now. I'm not.
I sat on the steps leading to Liam's from door. I was soaked in a matter of seconds.
Lights from a beautiful Mercedes blinded my eyes. His parents.
I stayed calm hoping they would go in through the garage and not see me. But i was pretty hard to miss with my unplanned all black clothing.
Liam's mother sat next to me on the steps.
"Who are you?" She laughed. For some reason she didn't seem very startled by a random girl sitting on her front porch.
"Gina, I was here to work on a project with Liam."
" A project or a project?" She nudged me. What is that even supposed to mean? I laughed and them figured it out.
"If i was here to work on a project," i nudged her back, " then i dont think i would be sitting out here in the rain."
"Oh my god I'm so sorry i didn't even realize." she chuckled.
" As you can probably tell I'm Liam's mom."
"Its nice to meet you Mrs. Russo."
"Call me Diane." She encouraged.
I wish my mom was as sweet and caring as Diane seemed. Wow Liam is lucky to have such a great mom.
"Come inside until your mother gets here honey." She grabbed my hand and pulled me to my feet.
"No really, its fine my mom will be here soon i dont want to intrude."
Its funny thought. I may not like Liam or want to be around his ignorance, but i was fine waiting inside if his mother was there.
"I insist." She said and opened the door.
Just as i was about to walk back inside an old gray Lexus pulled up in the driveway. My mother.
" I have to go." I walked to the car and got in the front seat.
Diane waved and walked inside.
I stared at the droplets of water racing to the bottom of the window as we drove home. They reminded me of people. Some were fast. Some were slow. Some went in different directions and some followed one straight path. Some stopped. And some made it. Some were stuck behind. Like me, just stuck in the past.
