Two days later an envelope arrived in
the mailbox of Silvers dorm room containing their first Mission case file. It was another murder case that appeared in the middle of the downtown area of the city. A women's body was found torn apart and left in an alleyway near the Black Lilly Bar. The picture attached showed the victim before and after her death. Her name was Veronica Shauff and she was nineteen years old. The last anyone had seen of her was when she walked out of the bar with her boyfriend; Greg Hydener. It was obvious a werewolf had killed her. No evidence or clues were found. The police held Greg for questioning at the station. Silver ran his fingers through his damp hair. There was a chance Greg could be a werewolf and if so things could get messy.
A sudden knocking on his door startled him from his thoughts. He sighed there was only one person who would dare knock at his door at this time of day. He walked over and opened it. "Morning Silver Sunshine are you ready to get breakfast and start the day?" Agent Velveteen smirked her hands on her hips. Suddenly a light blush swept across her cheeks. "For someone your age you definitely kept in good shape over the years," she held her nervous smirk but turned away embarrassed. Looking down Silver remembered he had just come out of the shower with his towel still on. "When you're in this field of work it's necessary to keep in prime condition or it'll become easier to be mistaken for wolf chow and I'm pretty sure I already told you I'm not that old I'm only twenty three," Silver shrugged. If she had come an hour later most of the male agents would be roaming the halls practically naked anyway.
"As much as I appreciate the reminder and eye candy you need to get changed and be ready in ten minutes so we can get food together and discuss our mission. An-Fairy is already in the cafeteria waiting for us along with our other group member," and with that she walked away briskly.
It's a strict requirement for field agents to at least have one partner but you can form groups of up to five people. The partner system is favoured more because it's easier plan and coordinate. Silver quickly got dressed in a black suit and armed himself accordingly. He decided to leave the jacket and tie and jogged down to the cafeteria on the lower level.
There were only a few agents sitting at tables eating. "Look who decided to show his face. I didn't think you'd be back on the field old man Sylvester," a younger teen with a leather jacket sat at the table next to Fairy. "Careful Agent Trick or you might never be able to show yours," Silver sat down across from Fairy next to Velveteen. The mornings always made him a bit touchy. "Th-e the special today is strawberry waffles," Fairy stuttered shyly. She pulled her white scarf tighter around her neck to hide her face. "Thank you Fairy I'll be right back and then we can go over the case details," Silver nodded trying to keep his voice gentle. For some reason Fairy unnerved him. She was to quiet for him to let his guard down around her. "I'll come to," Velveteen stood up and followed Silver to the Cafeteria line. She leaned in grabbing a tray. "You figured it out right?" She whispered her expression unwavering. Silver moved in front of her and swerved himself a heaving pile of fried potatoes, eggs and bacon. Wrinkling her nose she placed a bowl of mixed fruit on her tray along with a container of vanilla yogurt and granola. "The case?"Silver asked raising an eyebrow he felt slightly self conscious at her expression of dismay. So he quickly added on a piece of buttered toast with slices of tomato on top. They walked over to the Beverage Station. "Something like that I guess. You'll find out later I suppose," she shrugged pouring herself a glass of orange juice. Silver poured a mug of black steaming coffee. The smell of the rich caffeine engulfed his senses making him relax. "I suppose you don't plan on explaining yourself?" Silver turned to Velveteen but she was already walking back to the table.
Carrying his tray over scowling he sat down roughly and began digging into his food. Once everyone had finished eating Trick pulled out his copy of the case file. "You do remember we have to burn these things right rookie? This is classified information not a library book" Silver tried to cover his smirk of amusement with a stern frown. "What the Chief doesn't see or hear won't hurt him," Trick shrugged opening it up and spreading out the pictures and documents. "Also we are supposed to be at the police station in like ten minutes to talk to the suspect," Velveteen checked her watch. "Well then lets discuss this in the car because we are going to be very late. Thanks to a certain someone who forgot to mention that important detail," They all got up and went to the underground garage that stored rental vehicles for the agents to use. However to use them there were two conditions. It must come back with a full gas tank and any damage done will be taken and paid from your pay check.
Velveteen squealed in delight and practically lunged at a black off roader jeep. We climbed inside it no one dared to raise any objections after she pointed her gun motioning to get in her new best friend. Her eyes held an excited fire and energy that had no intention of burning out.
